Gilchrist urges end to scheduling woes

CHANDIGARH: Former Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has said scheduling is a major issue in world cricket, which needs to be sorted out.

“Too much cricket is being played around the world,” said Gilchrist.

“Scheduling is a bigger issue in world cricket, which needs to be sorted out.”

On India captain MS Dhoni’s lament that the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is right after the World Cup ended, Gilchrist said that the final option to play in the IPL rests with the players.

“Players have an option to play, unless Indian players have been told differently. As a foreign player, we’re invited and there’s no requirement that you have to play,” said Gilchrist.
