Match Report: Fata bowlers rip Lahore 'W' apart for a 34-run win

MULTAN: Aamer Amin and Mohammad Irfan ripped apart Lahore Whites batting to get Federally Administered Tribal Areas team a stunning 34 runs win in the ongoing Cool and Cool Present Jazz National T20 Cup match here at Multan Stadium on Friday.

Fata bowlers did not have much to defend but still they bowled a line that saw Lahore collapse to 83 runs in 17.5 overs while the later were chasing 117 runs for all in 19.3 overs.

Aamer ignited Lahore Blues collapse in which even the players of the likes of Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal and Umer Akmal beat the dust. By the six overs, Lahore was four for 28 and all those four wickets were taken by Aamer. Mohammad Imran and Bilal Asif pushed the middle order to the back foot when they took the wickets of Ayaz Yasawaar and Kamran Ghulam respectively.

With six down for 75, the target for Lahore was even then not difficult to achieve. But here Mohammad Irfan played his part taking three consecutive wickets of Ehsan Adil, Qaiser Ashraf and Ziaul Haq and the remaining one wicket went in the lap of Imran, his second. The only Lahore batsman who remain not out was Kashif Bhatti and he was also the highest scorer from the side with 21 runs. Lahore’s recognised batsmen Salman 11, Sikandar Raza 14, Ayaz 16 and Kamran Ghulam 15 wilted for just little contribution.

Earlier by bowling out Fata for a lowest score of the tournament, Lahore was smelling victory but that was not meant for them to achieve.

Fata after losing its openers, had Umer Saddiq, and Bilal Asif give respite to the total with 24 and 22 runs respectively. Yasir Hameed coming down the order made 19 and Asif Ali had 14.

Lahore bowlers Arsal Sheikh, Qaiser Ashraf and Ghulam shared two wickets each while the remaining three bowlers Ehsan Adil, Ziaul Haq, and Kashir Bhatti had one each. The good work done by Lahore bowlers was let go easily by their batsmen but that does not mean the credit is being taken away from Fata bowlers who bowled to the conditions and won the match against such a strong opposition.
