Mohammad Hafeez to undergo another fitness test Friday

Mohali, March 24, 2016: Mohammad Hafeez during the morning training session today (Thursday) tried to test recovery of his right knee by running a couple of interval training laps and a few minutes of batting drills under the supervision of team/doctor/physio therapist Dr Sohail Saleem.

According to Dr Sohail Saleem, “Hafeez felt uncomfortable with persistent pain persisting and in movement of the right knee he felt minimal level of stiffness and instability.

“He will be tested again Friday before the start of the game to ascertain his fitness to participate in the match against Australia in the afternoon.”

Mohammad Hafeez had at first complained of pain in the right knee on arrival in Chandigarh from Kolkatta on March 20. Subsequently he was given physio treatment several times, and when the pain didn’t subside, he was sent for an MRI.

On examination he was suspected of having a strain in the  ligament of his right knee. He was sent for an MRI scan immediately, which then revealed bone contusion/edema in the inter-condylar region of the femur – ruling him out for the game against New Zealand on March 22.
