Hafeez, Javeria to be retested at Chennai on April 9

LAHORE–April 1, 2015: On Pakistan Cricket Board’s request for retesting on Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action, the ICC has set April 9, 2015 as the date, with Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai, India being the venue.

During the first Test between Pakistan and New Zealand in the UAE last year, Hafeez was reported for suspect bowling action. He was put through independent biomechanical analysis of his suspect bowling action at the National Cricket Performance Center in Loughborough on November 24, 2014, which concluded that Hafeez's elbow extension exceeded the 15 degree level of tolerance permitted by the ICC regulations and was thus declared an illegal action.

As a consequence, Hafeez was suspended from bowling in international cricket.

Hafeez has since been working with PCB's panel of experts for remodeling his bowling action to bring his elbow extension within the permissible tolerance limits.

Likewise, Javeria Wadood, member of the Pakistan Women Cricket team, was also suspended for illegal bowling action in July 2010 after an analysis was done at the University of Western Australia. She has also done a decent bit of work in remodeling her bowling action with the help of experts.

The ICC has set the same date and venue for retesting on her bowling action too.
