Central Contracts Awarded to Women Cricketers

Lahore May 17, 2011: Pakistan Cricket Board announces the list of Women Cricketers who got the PCB Central Contract for the calendar year 2011.

Women Cricket over the years has transformed into a professional sport, which requires full time commitment and a professional approach to the game. With professionalism, there arises a need of compensation. Over the past couple of years, Pakistan Women Cricket Team has shown a gradual but positive progress and on the basis of their recent historic achievement of winning the Gold Medal in the 16th Asian Games 2010 held in Guangzhou, China; the Chairman PCB (Mr. Muhammad Ijaz Butt) announced to award Central Contracts to the women players.

This contract is for One year w.e.f 1st Jan, 2011 which is divided into (4) Categories (A, B, C & D or Stipend).

It is pertinent to mention here that (19) girls have been awarded the contract whereas one of the players namely SANIA KHAN’s contract has been withheld due to medical reasons as she is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program in lieu of her shoulder injury. Once she will be cleared by PCB’s medical panel, then her contract will be issued accordingly.
