Faruqi Disqualified by PCB
Inquiry Officer recommends to disqualify the membership of Association of Mr. Faruqi
Lahore August 5, 2011: PCB had initiated a disciplinary process to investigate the breaches of Conduct of Holders of Office Rules 2004 by Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, Honorary Secretary KCCA, for which latter has submitted an Undertaking to adhere to.
Mr. Faruqi issued press statements, criticizing PCB and its functioning, on multiple occasions for which he was issued Show Cause Notices. He never replied any of those. The matter was then taken up with President KCCA who was requested to initiate a disciplinary action against Mr. Faruqi for violation of the Rules. KCCA president forwarded the request to Mr. Faruqi for his comments who denied the charges.
Mr. Shafiq Ahmed, General Manager Domestic Cricket, was appointed the Inquiry Officer. Mr. Faruqi was called by PCB’s Inquiry Officer for personal hearing on 15-06-2011 and was given a fair hearing and full opportunity to defend himself.
After considering all facts, circumstances and the arguments of Mr. Faruqi the Inquiry Officer, under Rule 9 of PCB, Conduct of Holder of Office Rules 2004, recommended to disqualify Mr. Faruqi to be a member of the Association (KCCA).
Chairman PCB endorsed the decision and subsequently a letter has been written to the President KCCA in this regard today.
The decision is reproduced below:
“Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, Honorary Secretary KCCA is immediately disqualified to be a member of the Association (KCCA); consequently ceases to be Honorary Secretary of KCCA with immediate effect. Accordingly, if any benefits are being availed by him in his capacity as Secretary, the same to be recovered from him.”
Mr. Faruqi has the right to appeal to the Governing Board under paragraph 35 of the PCB constitution within 30 days of this order.
