Imran Khan to replace Sohail Khan

Ziaul Haq drafted in Pakistan 'A' to tour Sri Lanka

LAHORE–April 21, 2015: Fast bowler Imran Khan is to replace injured Sohail Khan for the Test rubber against Bangladesh.

After consulting fellow selectors and having sought Chairman PCB, Shaharyar Mohammad Khan's approval, Pakistan chief selector Haroon Rashid named Imran as Sohail's replacement for the Test squad.

“After Dr. Sohail Saleem, head of PCB’s Sports Medicine Department, confirmed that Sohail Khan has still not been able to recover sufficiently to be able to take any part in the two Tests against Bangladesh, I discussed the matter with my fellow selectors Azhar Khan, Salim Jaffer and Kabir Khan, and all selectors were unanimous on Imran Khan as replacement for Sohail Khan for the Test series against Bangladesh,” said Haroon Rashid.

Since Imran was part of the ‘A’ team to visit Sri Lanka, his Test recall necessitated a replacement there too. Already amongst the reserves, Ziaul Haq has been drafted in the ‘A’ squad to fill that slot for the entire tour of Sri Lanka.
