PCB reaches out to workers in the UAE as part of social responsibility campaign

LAHORE – November 4, 2015: As part of the Pakistan – England cricket series in the UAE, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has engaged in a social responsibility campaign by arranging a cricket series for workers based in the UAE.

The first phase took place over a period of two days on October 9 and 10 in Abu Dhabi, where workers participated in trials for team selection. After the success of the first event, two more were held on October 15 and 16 in Sharjah at UNEC Sajja Labor Camp while the next day it moved to Dubai at Dulsco Al Quoz. The final event is set to take place in Dubai onNovember 6, 2015, where teams from Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi will face off in a series of matches.

There are plenty of labor camps across the Emirates, each housing thousands of workers. Many of the workers in these camps work for industrial companies, constructions sites and in contract jobs. PCB's initiative provided much-needed relief to the hard working community of workers in the region. The campaign has touched over 100,000 workers across the UAE, bringing joy to their lives through the game of cricket.

Pakistani cricketers are also set to be present at the final of this event where participants will get a chance to meet their favorite cricketers, and receive mobile phones, kits,  certificates and other gifts in recognition of their participation.

Speaking about this activation, PCB Chairman Shaharyar M Khan, said: “The response from this activation has been phenomenal. This is a great way to recognize the services of workers in the UAE and I am glad that the PCB has been able to provide them with this opportunity."
