LCCA West Zone elects its 12 representatives

LAHORE–June 2, 2014: The special meeting of council of West Zone Cricket Association Lahore was held here at Gaddafi Stadium to elect 12 representatives to the Council of Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA).

Out of 48 members of the council, 32 were present and through secret balloting elected 12 representatives.

The meeting was convened by the Vice-President of the West Zone.

The two rival groups of West Zone Cricket Association had leveled severe allegations against each other; these included tampering and presenting fake list of 12 representatives, which culminated in the registration of a criminal case against one group. This left no option for the Election Commissioner, Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana, except to direct them to adopt a transparent procedure for electing the Zone’s representatives, which was monitored by Election Commissioner.

The special meeting of the Council to exercise their power under clause VIII (13) of the Zone’s Constitution was monitored by Election Commissioner PCB.
