Lahore, 1 November 2025: Mohammad Abbas’ 10-wicket haul in the match led Lahore Whites to a six-wicket win over Multan at the Marghazar Cricket Ground in Islamabad on the third day of the fifth-round fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on Saturday.
In another result-oriented game, Bahawalpur defeated Karachi Blues by eight wickets at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar.
The remaining three matches of the fifth round are set for a fourth-day finish.
At the Marghazar Cricket Ground, resuming their second innings on an overnight score of 122 for three, Multan were bowled out for 199 in 64.3 overs, with Imran Butt top-scoring with a 151-ball 71 that included eight boundaries.
For Lahore Whites, Mohammad Abbas bagged yet another five-wicket haul to finish with 10 wickets in the match. This was right-arm fast bowler’s 14th 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket and took his tally to 23 wickets in the ongoing tournament after four matches.
In pursuit of 81, Lahore Whites reached the target in 17.3 overs, losing four wickets in the process.
For the losing side, Kashif Ali claimed two wickets.
At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, resuming the third day requiring 178 runs for victory, Bahawalpur’s Saad Khan struck an unbeaten century to lift his side to an eight-wicket win over Karachi Blues. Saad’s 103 came off 137 balls and included 17 fours. He was also Bahawalpur’s top scorer in the first innings with 61 off 90 balls.
Saad shared an unbroken 166-run stand for the third wicket with Mohammad Ammar, who remained not out on 70 off 164 balls, hitting six fours. Mushtaq Ahmed took two wickets for the losing team.
At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Peshawar were leading Faisalabad by 106 runs with four second-innings wickets in hand when stumps were drawn. Iftikhar Ahmed was unbeaten on 54 off 122 balls, striking seven fours, while wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris made 38 off 65 balls, hitting six boundaries.
For Faisalabad, Afaq Afridi took three wickets for 36, while Jahandad Khan picked up two.
Earlier, resuming their first innings at 309 for seven, Faisalabad were dismissed for 384 in 121.4 overs. Faham-ul-Haq, who had scored his maiden century on Friday, added 20 runs to his overnight score and was dismissed for 157, an innings that included 18 fours.
For Peshawar, captain Sajid Khan was the most successful bowler, taking three for 84.
At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, FATA were made to follow on and reached 284 for four in 59.3 overs when stumps were drawn. Khushdil Shah struck his first century of the tournament and third first-class hundred, scoring 159 off 150 balls with 22 fours and two sixes.
Earlier, resuming their first innings on 213 for seven, FATA were dismissed for 281 in 55.3 overs. Rehan Afridi top-scored with 91 off 98 balls, hitting 14 fours and two sixes. Sameen Gul remained unbeaten on 43 off 62 balls, laced with seven fours and a six.
For Islamabad, Hunain Shah took four wickets, while Musa Khan and Shayan Sheikh picked up three apiece.
In the match between Abbottabad and Sialkot, Abbottabad, after being asked to follow on and resuming their second innings at 37 for one, reached 331 for eight in 91.5 overs at stumps. Opening batter Shahzaib Khan, playing his fifth match of the tournament, scored his maiden first-class century, a 257-ball innings featuring 20 fours and a six.
Batting at number eight, Khalid Usman contributed a 97-ball 83, hitting eight fours and five sixes.
For Sialkot, Mohammad Ali took three wickets for 61 in 17.5 overs, while Mohammad Hasnain, who claimed five wickets in the first innings, added two more in the second.
