HARIS' MAIDEN HUNDRED PUTS PAKISTAN IN THE DRIVING SEAT

Dubai - October 8, 2018: Pakistan resumed their 1st innings at 255/3 on the second day of the 1st Test against Australia at the Dubai International Stadium.

The night-watchman, Mohammad Abbas, was dismissed by Peter Siddle after scoring a 26-ball 1.

Haris Sohail got into the groove. He played a couple of delightful drives to get things going for him. Asad Shafiq, meanwhile, got a move on from the other end as well.

Interestingly enough, Austalia's captain, Tim Piane opted not to take the new ball in the first session of play. Pakistan reached 329/4 at the break, scoring 74 runs in the opening passage of play, with a loss of one wicket.

Right after the respite, Australia opted for the new ball.

Haris & Shafiq completed their respective half centuries. Both partnered for 150. But just when Pakistan looked to run away with the contest, the debutant,Marnus Labuschagne, struck as Shafiq made his way back to the pavilion after scoring 80.

Haris Sohail continued to impress and by the Tea interval had reached 88*. Pakistan upped the run rate in the second session, managing 88 in 27 Overs, just over 3 in over.

Pakistan suffered an early loss at the start of the third session when Babar Azam was run out for just 4. Haris Sohail, meanwhile, completed his maiden Test century.

Nathan Lyon eventually got the better of him as Haris walked back to the hut for 110.

Pakistan were eventually dismissed for 482. Peter Siddle was the pick of the bowlers with 3/58.

Australia reached 30/0 at the end of the day's play.
