Hyderabad's Jawad Ali grabs a five-fer on day two of round two of Super-Four stage of Hanif Mohammad Trophy

Lahore, 17 October 2023: On the second day of round two of the Super-Four stage of Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24, Quetta took a lead of 39 runs over Abbottabad, before getting bowled out for 272 in 91 overs at Multan Cricket Stadium. At the Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan, Hyderabad posted 112 for four in 54 overs after dismissing Islamabad for 304 runs in 120.2 overs.

 

Quetta v Abbottabad at Multan Cricket Stadium:

Quetta resumed their innings at 26-1 in 10 overs at Multan Cricket Stadium on the second day of the second round of Super-Four stage of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy. Shahbaz Khan (70, 138b, 8x4s) top-scored for Quetta, as the side managed to put up a total of 272 in their first innings. Abdul Wahid Bangalzai also added to the total, scoring 60 runs from 132 balls including six boundaries.

Adil Naz and Khalid Usman bagged three wickets each, while Mehroz Rasheed helped by getting two wickets.

In their second innings, Abbottabad have thus far scored 15 runs at the loss of one wicket, courtesy of Gohar Faiz.

Islamabad v Hyderabad at Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex, Rahim Yar Khan:

At the Sheikh Khalifa Complex in Rahim Yar Khan, Islamabad began the day with their score being 268-7 in 99 overs.

Farmanullah Khan (72, 270b, 7x4s) and Mohammad Hammad (71, 163b, 9x4s, 1x6) were the top run-getters for Islamabad as they posted 304. They were supported by Hassan Nawaz (43, 55b, 2x4s, 5x6s) and Rohail Nazir (40, 58b, 4x4s, 2x6s). Jawad Ali bagged a five-fer and Majid Asghar returned with three important wickets in the innings.

In response, Hyderabad scored 112 runs in 54 overs, losing four wickets. Rizwan Mehmood (28 not out, 50b, 3x4s) was the highest scorer for the side. Ali Ahsan (20, 60b, 2x4s) and Mohammad Suleman (20, 66b, 3x4s) were the second-best scorers.

Shayan Sheikh and Mohammad Hammad had two wickets apiece.
