Karachi, 4 January 2026: The day two of the second round of President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 saw Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) put defending champions Pakistan Television (PTV) under pressure with a three figure first innings lead as action unfolded at four venues across Karachi on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) were firm favorites to outfox Sahir Associates, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) batters staged a comeback against Ghani Glass and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) found themselves behind Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

OGDCL’s Haroon Arshad shone with his third overall and second-consecutive first-class century as he helped his team gain a substantial 103-run first innings lead over Pakistan Television at the UBL Sports Complex.

Resuming the day from overnight score of 73-1, OGDCL soon lost Israrullah for 53 off 68 balls including 10 fours. At this juncture, Haroon – backing up his 116 in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final – racked up 104, inclusive of 14 fours in a 210-ball vigil, which also included a 138-run stand with no.3 Umar Siddiq (56, 127b, 8x4s).

With Umar’s departure in 64th over, OGDCL slumped losing eight wickets for 84 runs in a space of 23.5 overs as they posted 302 all out in 90.2 overs in reply to PTV’s 199.

Israr Hussain of PTV bagged figures of seven for 95 in 27.2 overs – his third haul of five or more wickets in the format – falling slightly short of bettering his previous best innings analysis of 7-72. Arafat Minhas, Musa Khan and Amad Butt picked up one wicket each.

In turn, PTV raced to 22 for no loss in three overs at close of play in their second dig with an 81-run deficit yet to overcome.

SBP were 222 runs ahead of Ghani Glass as they finished the day with their second innings score reading 194-3 in 44 overs at the NBP Sports Complex.

Wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (113 not out, 104b, 17x4s) and Rameez Aziz (47 not out, 102b, 6x4s) were unbeaten on the crease after having pulled their team from 51-3 with a 143-run partnership. Ghazi blazed his second first-class century in the outing and will be looking to help his team set a formidable target for Ghani Glass.

Earlier, SBP’s pacer Mohammad Abbas completed his 54th first-class five-wicket haul along with 850 wickets in the format with miserly figures of 22-11-27-6. Ghani Glass resumed from overnight score of 31-4 as Tayyab Tahir (60, 142b, 8x4s) and night watcher Mohammad Rameez Jnr (39, 59b, 7x4s) put on 88 runs.

Saad Nasim chipped in with 38 off 32 balls hitting four fours and two sixes before Ghani Glass were bowled out for 174 in 57.2 overs conceding a 28-run first innings deficit. Apart from Abbas’s six, Kashif Bhatti picked up two wickets.

At the National Bank Stadium, Sahir Associates were left reeling at 42-4 in 16 overs at close of play chasing a 228-run target against KRL. Arshad Iqbal and Mohammad Hamza dismissed two batters each.

Only Mohammad Afzal (25, 22b, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Mohammad Faiq (24, 24b, 4x4s) managed a score above 20-run mark.

Arshad was aided by Ahmed Bashir (3-40) and Mohammad Hamza (2-50), who accounted for the other five wickets combined.

With an 81-run first innings lead, KRL succumbed to the pace of Khan Zaib (10.4-2-51-5), Bilawal (2-33), Mohammad Hasnain (2-49) and Attaullah (1-10) as they managed a mere 146 in 31.4 overs, setting a 228-run target for Sahir. Imran Rafiq (31, 19b, 6x4s) and Saad Baig (30, 30b, 5x4s) chipped in with fluent thirties.

SNGPL were trailing WAPDA by another 96 runs at close of play on day two after grinding out 17 overs scoring 33 runs for the loss of Ali Zaryab. Earlier, WAPDA managed a massive 129-run lead over SNGPL as they posted 276 all out in their first dig in 71.4 overs.

WAPDA’s skipper Khalid Usman led from front with 96 off 88 balls hitting 11 fours and five sixes after walking in to bat at 159-5, which put his team well ahead of SNGPL’s first innings total of 147 all out.
