Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Northern and Southern Punjab Whites prevail in Group A matches

Multan, 31 January 2022: Three more Pool A matches in the National U16 One-Day Tournament (45 overs) were played on Monday at three Multan venues with Southern Punjab U16 Whites, Northern U16 Whites and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Whites winning their games against Sindh U16 Whites, Balochistan U16 Whites and Central Punjab U16 Whites, respectively.

At the Head Muhammad Wala Ground, Ali Hasnain’s unbeaten 81 led Southern Punjab U16 Whites to a seven-wicket win over Sindh U16 Whites. Batting first, Sindh U16 were bowled out for 171 in the 42nd over. Haroon Arshad and Noman Ali scored half-centuries for Sindh. Southern Punjab’s Abdul Rasool Tariq and Haseeb Ahmed bagged three wickets each.

Southern Punjab achieved the target in the 36th over for the loss of three wickets.

Over at the Multan Cricket Stadium, an all-round performance from Mohammad Asmat guided Northern U16 Whites to a 63-run win over Balochistan U16 Whites. Batting first, Northern U16 Whites scored 263 for seven in their allotted 45 overs. The right-handed batter Asmat top-scored with 69, while Arsalan Ali and Abdullah Sohail scored half-centuries.

In reply, Balochistan U16 Whites were restricted to 200 for eight in 45 overs. Usman Ghani top-scored with 51. Northern’s Azan Kabir took three for 42, while Asmat grabbed two wickets for 45.

At the Zawari Cricket Academy Ground, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Whites beat Central Punjab U16 Whites by 20 runs. Batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 241 for seven on the back of half-centuries by Riazullah Khan (77, 97b, six fours, three sixes) and Mohammad Awais (54, 46b, four fours, two sixes). For Central Punjab U16 Whites, Mohammad Yasin Bilal and Ammar Qayyum picked three and two wickets, respectively.

In reply, Central Punjab U16 Whites were dismissed for 221 in the 45th over. Mohammad Tayyab Arif top-scored with 88. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Adil Waheed picked four wickets for 46. Mohammad Haroon and Mohammad Shoaib picked three and two wickets, respectively.
