Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Maaz struck century; Southern Punjab's Faisal takes five-fer on day two

Lahore, 28 September 2022: Southern Punjab’s Faisal Akram takes a five-wicket haul to dismiss Northern for 184 on day two of the first round match of Cricket Associations Championship on Wednesday at the KCCA Stadium in Karachi. In the contest between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the NBP Sports Complex, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat scored a century to help his side to take a first innings lead. In the third match of the round, Sindh were leading by 67 runs with six second innings wickets in hand.

Southern Punjab v Northern

Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of seven for no loss, Northern were dismissed for 184 in the 62nd over against Southern Punjab. Northern’s Aqib Shah and Nasir Nawaz scored half-centuries for his side. Left-arm spinner Faisal was the pick of the bowlers, taking five wickets for 68 runs. In return, Southern Punjab were 82 for two and leading by 171 runs when stumps were drawn.

Balochistan v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s opening batter Maaz Sadaqat scored a 135-ball 114 to help his side take a 187-run lead over Balochistan. Earlier, after resuming their first innings on 64 for no loss, Northern scored 449 for nine in 106 overs. Other than Maaz, Mohsin Khan contributed a 132-ball 82, which included 12 fours and three sixes. Captain Israrullah scored a 104-ball 71 and struck 11 fours and one six. He knitted a 146-run partnership for the first wicket.

For Balochistan, Jalat Khan bagged four wickets for 109. Gohar Faiz bagged two wickets for 100 runs.

Central Punjab v Sindh

Nine wickets between Arish Ali Khan (4-53), Majid Asghar (3-37) and Tabish Khan (2-41) helped Sindh skittled Central Punjab for 234 in the 63rd over. Imran Khan Niazi top-scored for Central Punjab, he struck 10 fours and two sixes during his 117-ball 74 runs innings. Rizwan Hussain was other notable run getter with 59 from 97 balls, hitting nine fours.

In return, with a 22-run first innings lead, Sindh were reeling at 45 for four in 19.1 overs when stumps were drawn.
