Mohammad Imran's record figures help Peshawar make it nine out of nine

Karachi, 7 December, 2023: The penultimate day of Super Eight stage of AH Group presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24 saw usual Peshawar dominance whereas Karachi Whites and Abbottabad also had good outings in their respective games.

Lahore Blues and Sialkot will lock horns in the fourth match of the day at 2000 PKT. The coin toss will take place at 1930 PKT.

Peshawar vs Rawalpindi at UBL Sports Complex

Rawalpindi batters struggled against Peshawar at UBL Sports Complex as they collapsed to 107 all out in 19 overs. Rawalpindi had won the toss and were reduced to 42-5 after electing to bat first. Umar Amin (31, 33b, 2x4s, 1x6) and Mohammad Raza-ul-Mustafa’s (20, 27b, 2x4s) scratchy innings along with Mehran Mumtaz’s (13, 8b, 1x4, 1x6) contribution helped Rawalpindi go past 100-run mark.

Peshawar pacer Mohammad Imran registered his career-best T20 bowling figures as he picked up six wickets in his four overs giving away just 16 runs.

In reply, Peshawar made little fuss in chasing down Rawalpindi’s paltry total. Sahibzada Farhan (47, 23b, 4x4s, 4x6s) continued his red-hot form while Iftikhar Ahmed contributed with an unbeaten 30 off 24 balls comprising of two boundaries and a solitary maximum. Mohammad Nawaz bagged two wickets while Mehran Mumtaz picked one wicket.

Mohammad Imran was declared player of the match for producing the best spell of the tournament.

Karachi Whites vs FATA at NBP Sports Complex  

Karachi Whites had a productive day out in the field as they racked up their second successive win. Karachi Whites chased the target of 140 set by FATA with eight wickets in the bag and seven balls to spare. After being asked to bat first, FATA lost their opening batter Mohammad Naeem Snr for a duck. Karachi Whites leg-spinner Arif Yaqoob struck four times in the middle overs that left FATA struggling.

Skipper Khushdil Shah only contributed 13 runs as he was dismissed by his counterpart Asad Shafiq. Maaz Khan’s (28, 17b, 5x4s) late burst helped FATA post 139-8.

Karachi Whites openers, Khurram Manzoor (49, 52b, 6x4s) and Ammad Alam (53, 42b, 5x4s, 2x6s), stitched a solid partnership of 105 runs. Azam Khan (23 not out, 13b, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Omair Bin Yousuf (14 not out, 7b, 1x4, 1x6) took Karachi Whites over the line. Arif Yaqoob was named player of the match for his brilliant spell of four wickets.

Lahore Whites vs Abbottabad at National Bank Stadium  

Abbottabad strengthened their semi-final qualification chances by securing their fourth win in the Super Eight Stage as they beat Lahore Whites by 22 runs. Lahore Whites won the toss and asked Abbottabad to bat first. Despite Fakhar Zaman’s dismissal for a golden duck duck, Sajjad Ali Jnr (90, 51b, 8x4s, 6x6s) joined forces with Kamran Ghulam (7x4s, 6x6s) to produce a mammoth partnership of 166 runs. Abbottabad posted a huge total of 205-8 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Lahore Whites suffered two early losses as Ahmed Shehzad (1, 3b) and Tayyab Tahir (2, 4b) failed to get out of the blocks. Opening batter, Mohammad Faiq (63, 35b, 12x4s) and skipper Saad Nasim (57, 37b, 4x4s, 4x6s) put up a partnership of 94 runs that kept Lahore Whites in the game for some time. Shahab Khan then wreaked havoc with four wickets that broke the back of Lahore Whites’ batting. They lost their last eight wickets for just 63 runs. Sajjad Ali Jnr was awarded player of the match for his brilliant knock of 90 runs.
