National U19 Three-Day: Mubashar and Hasnat score centuries

Lahore, 22 November 2020: Mubashar Ali scored a valiant century to help Southern Punjab post 240 all out on the opening day of their National U19 Three-Day Tournament match against table-toppers Northern at the National Ground, Islamabad.

Northern U19 v Southern Punjab U19, National Ground, Islamabad:

Mubashar made 100 from 163 balls and stitched a crucial 163-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Mohammad Faizan Zafar after Southern Punab were reduced to 22 for four.

Mubashar struck 13 fours, while Faizan hit five fours and three sixes in his 167-ball 86.

Northern’s Usama Afridi took three wickets for 19, while Mehran Mumtaz, Mubasir Khan and Hassan Abid Kayani equally shared six wickets between them after their captain Mohammad Raza-ul-Mustafa elected to bowl.

Northern were 23 for no loss from the five overs they faced before stumps were drawn.

Central Punjab U19 v Sindh U19, Army Sports Ground, Rawalpindi:

Hasnat Abbas scored an unbeaten century as Central Punjab posted an imposing 349 for seven in 83 overs after Sindh elected to bowl at the Army Sports Ground.

Hasnat smashed seven fours and three sixes from 95 balls after his captain Mohammad Huraira and Sameer Saqib put a strong 150-run alliance for the second wicket.

Huraira made 80 runs from 137 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes.

Sameer missed his century by six runs as he scored 94 from 192 balls, 13 of which were dispatched towards boundary.

Sindh faced seven overs before the close of play and were 22 for none.

Balochistan U19 v Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19, Ayub Park Ground, Rawalpindi:

Izhar Ahmed and Ahmed Khan shared seven wickets between them as Balochistan were skittled out for 85 in 38.2 overs.

Izhar took four wickets for 32, while Ahmed picked up three wickets for 25 runs.

Only four Balochistan batsmen entered the double digits with Kabir Raj top-scoring with 19.

In their reply, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had scored 121 for three in 33 overs thanks to Haseeb Khan’s unbeaten 65 off 109 balls.

Maaz Sadaqat was the other notable run-getter with a 54-ball 29.

To date, Haseeb had struck nine fours and a six.

Balochistan’s Kabir Raj took two wicket for 34 runs.
