Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Second XI tournament, Central Punjab beat Balochistan

Karachi, 2 December 2020: The eight-round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Second XI (three-day non-first-class) tournament concluded at three Karachi venues today. Central Punjab beat Balochistan by four wickets at the KCCA Stadium. The match between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab ended in a draw. Mohammad Taha and Saad Khan scored hundreds as Sindh’s match with Northern also ended in a draw.

Sindh vs Northern, NBP Sports Complex, Karachi:

Resuming their second innings at the overnight score 179 for three in their second innings, Sindh amassed 430 for six declared in 108 overs. Saad Khan scored an unbeaten 159 off 243 balls (20 fours, one six). Saad shared a 213-run partnership for the fourth-wicket with Mohammad Taha who scored 125 off 184 balls (13 fours, two sixes).

Set a 242-run target, Northern were 139 for six in their second innings after 33 overs of play when stumps were drawn. Jamal Anwar scored an unbeaten 44. Mohammad Asghar took four wickets for Sindh.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vs Southern Punjab, TMC Ground, Karachi:

Resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 189 for eight, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were bowled out for 215 runs in 61.5 overs. Mohammad Haris who was 66 not out, reached 84 before his dismissal. Ali Usman finished with six wickets while Salahudin took three.

Set a 290-run target, Southern Punjab reached 184 for five in 79.2 overs when stumps were drawn as the match ended in a stalemate. Mohammad Basit scored 64 while Waqar Hussain contributed 49 runs. Asif Afridi took three wickets for 52 runs.

Central Punjab vs Balochistan, KCCA Stadium, Karachi:

Resuming at the overnight second innings score of 170 for seven, Balochistan were dismissed for 179 runs in 83 overs with Kamran Afzal and Asfand Mehran taking four wickets each.

Set an 81-run target, Central Punjab endured a scare as they lost six wickets before completing the chase in 23.4 overs. Atiq-ur-Rehman top-scored with 28 off 36 balls, hitting three boundaries.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, Hayatullah and Mohammad Junaid took two wickets each.
