SBP's Rameez hits 145, Ghani Glass' Sameen picks 6-42 as seventh round gets underway

  • Sahir Associates’ Razaullah and OGDCL’s Asif Afridi also picked up five-fors

Karachi, 2 February 2026: The opening day of the seventh round of President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 saw Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Sahir Associates win the toss and elect to bowl first, while Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) opted to bat first.

SBP were put in to bat by joint-table toppers WAPDA and they replied with the healthy total of 394 all out in 83.1 overs with n0.5 batter Rameez Aziz leading the charge as he hit his 10th first-class century and also completed 7,000 first-class career runs.

After SBP lost two early wickets, Abdullah Fazal (72, 84b, 9x4s, 3x6s) and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (30, 36b, 5x4s) put on 77 runs for the third wicket.

Rameez Aziz struck 145 off 182 balls with the help of 15 fours and four sixes, while he was supported by Qasim Akram (45, 65b, 5x4s, 2x6s), Shahid Aziz (25, 37b, 2x4s, 1x6) and Kashif Bhatti (22, 40b, 1x4, 1x6) lower down the order.

For WAPDA, Naqeebullah returned economical figures of 17-2-38-3, while skipper Khalid Usman picked up three for 76 in his 20 overs. Mujtaba Khan dismissed two batters.

In turn, WAPDA opening batters Muhammad Akhlaq and Rafay Rana faced one over each without scoring any run before stumps were drawn.

Sahir Associates’ Razaullah picked up his third first-class five-wicket haul to help his team dismiss PTV for 267 in 60.3 overs at the Oval Academy Ground. PTV were 90-5 after being asked to bat but then Mohammad Mohsin (66, 77b, 8x4s, 3x6s) and Arafat Minhas (49, 63b, 4x4s, 3x6s) took them out of trouble with a 97-run stand.

No.8 batter Amad Butt chipped in with a brisk 42-ball 44 hitting four fours and three sixes before falling to Razaullah. Khan Zeb picked three for 86 in 20 overs, which also include seven maidens.

Sahir Associates reached stumps with 60 runs on the board for the loss one wickets in 18 overs as Asim Ali Nasir (30 not out, 46b, 5x4s) and Faham-ul-Haq (20 not out, 59b, 3x4s) held both ends tight with an unbeaten 55-run stand.

Final contenders and joint-table toppers SNGPL were skittled for 182 in 66.2 overs against OGDCL at the UBL Sports Complex. Test spinner Asif Afridi bagged his 20th five-wicket haul and completed the landmark of 250 first-class wickets.

Mubasir Khan resisted with half-century (52, 102b, 4x4s, 1x6), while Azan Awais (23, 57b, 5x4s), Omair Bin Yousuf (23, 67b, 3x4s), skipper Mohammad Rizwan (22, 41b, 3x4s) and Aamir Jamal (20, 38b, 3x4s) couldn’t convert their starts.

Asif returned figures of 29-8-71-6, while Danish Aziz and Mohammad Amir Khan picked up two wickets each. In response, OGDCL scored 63-2 in 21 overs by close of play with Imam-ul-Haq unbeaten on 36.

At the KCCA Stadium, KRL’s bid to bat first was hit by Ghani Glass’ pacer Sameen Gul, who picked up five of the first six wickets to fall.

KRL slipped to 68-6 before no.8 Hamza Nazar struck a 80-ball 71 with the help of 10 fours, while Aqib Shah chipped in with 30 off as many balls hitting as the put on 87 runs. KRL were dismissed for 189 in 61.1 overs with no.3 batter Waqar Ahmed also contributing 35 off 72 balls.

Sameen picked up his 10th first-class five-for returning impressive figures of 18-7-42-6, while Ali Shabbir dismissed two batters.

In reply, Ghani Glass were 45-2 in 18 overs, when the stumps were drawn with Tayyab Tahir unbeaten on four off 25 balls and Sameen, called in as night watcher, on two not out off six balls. Sufyan Moqim and Iftikhar Ahmed picked up a wicket each.
