Karachi, 28 January 2026: The second day of the sixth round of President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 saw Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s (SNGPL) Shehzad Gul, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited’s (OGDCL) Mohammad Amir Khan and Pakistan Television’s (PTV) Ali Usman bag five-wicket hauls, while State Bank of Pakistan’s (SBP) Mohammad Huraira completed his century.
At the KCCA Stadium, Shehzad took five for 38 in 16.4 overs to help SNGPL dismiss Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) for 175 in 61.4 overs after they had resumed their first innings from 61-2 in 28 overs.
SNGPL gained a slim 24-run lead as KRL’s Shahzaib Khan (36, 110b, 5x4s), Sufyan Moqim (33, 28b, 5x4s, 1x6) and Sarmad Bhatti (30, 63b, 3x4s, 1x6) chipped in with thirties as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Shehzad’s fifth first-class five-for in the tournament took him to 34 wickets in just five matches at an impressive average of 9.47. In reply, SNGPL were 125-2 in 52 overs at close, leading KRL by 149 runs, with Abid Ali unbeaten on 46 off 138 balls.
Ghani Glass were 166-6 in 55 overs at close of play on day two against Sahir Associates as they lead by 154 runs in the second innings. Hammad Butt’s half-century (77, 122b, 11x4s, 1x6) and Ali Razzaq’s 96-ball 33 gave Ghani Glass some semblance of stability as the duo put on 85 runs after joining forces at 55-3.
For Sahir Associates, Khan Zaib picked up three for 48 in 14 overs. Earlier, Sahir had resumed from overnight score of 75-2 in 37 overs but then lost eight for 95 to be bowled for 167 in 64 overs, gaining a meagre 12-run first innings lead.
No.7 batter Mohammad Mohsin Khan scored 74 not out off 79 balls hitting 11 fours and two sixes after walking in to bat at 75-5 for Sahir Associates. Ghani Glass’ Ali Shabbir picked up four for 72, while Test pacer Mir Hamza returned figures of 18-6-31-3.
SBP inched closer to a victory over OGDCL as they managed a 312-run first innings lead at the National Bank Stadium on day two. In reply, OGDCL were 125-5 in 49 overs at stumps, trailing by another 187 runs with all top five batters back in the hut.
Earlier, SBP resumed their first innings from overnight score of 246-1 in 59 overs and were dismissed for 388 in 93.2 overs. They slipped from 278-1 to lose nine for 110 as OGDCL’s Mohammad Amir Khan bagged his fourth five-wicket haul (23.2-1-95-5). Pacer Mushtaq Ahmed picked up four for 93 in 20 overs.
Overnight unbeaten batter Mohammad Huraira completed his 11th first-class century (110, 180b, 12x4s) after resuming from 95 not out. His fellow batter Abdullah Fazal continued from 140 not out and was dismissed for 182 off 231 balls, becoming the first batter to reach 500-run mark in the tournament.
At the UBL Sports Complex, PTV closed the day two with 123-6 in 32 overs in their second innings with a 152-run lead against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). Arafat Minhas (28, 24b, 4x4s, 1x6) and Waqar Hussain (22, 28b, 5x4s) crossed 20-run marks for PTV.
Earlier, WAPDA were bowled out for 240 in 65.2 overs after resuming from 29-0 in eight overs with PTV’s Ali Usman taking his 12th first-class five-for (30.2-4-112-6) and third in the tournament. Amad Butt picked up three wickets.
For WAPDA, Khalid Usman top-scored with a 54-ball 43 hitting three fours and as many sixes as they conceded a 29-run first innings deficit.
