Karachi, 10 January 2026: The second day of the third round of President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 saw plenty of action at Karachi’s four venues with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) striving to get back to winning ways against State Bank of Pakistan, while Sahir Associates’ troubles continued.

Elsewhere, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) got ahead of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) after batting out the whole day with Ghani Glass putting Pakistan Television under pressure as the latter look to set a fighting target.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) were left reeling at the State Bank Stadium as they were bundled out for 115 in 32.4 overs conceding a massive 148-run first innings deficit against SNGPL, who were 23-3 in turn at stumps.

Earlier, SNGPL added 66 runs to their overnight score of 197-4 and faced 12.5 overs early on day two before their innings was wrapped up. Shahid Aziz led the way for SBP with figures of 23.5-2-57-4. Niaz Khan and Mohammad Ismail picked up two wickets each.

SBP’s batting could not withstand the pace of Shehzad Gul, who bagged a maiden first-class five-for (11.4-1-37-5) and Shahnawaz Dahani, who picked up four for 23 in 11 overs. Rameez Aziz (43, 46b, 4x4s, 3x6s) and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (33, 43b, 4x4s, 1x6) top scored in SBP’s meagre 115-run total in first innings.

With the ball in second innings, SBP’s Mohammad Abbas (7-2-11-2) and Niaz Khan (6-3-12-1) eked out the valuable scalps of SNGPL’s Azan Awais, Ali Zaryab and Omair Bin Yousuf to leave them 19-3 as night watcher Mohammad Ali and Shan Masood saw off the remaining 17 balls.

KRL were 305-5 after they faced 90 overs on day two as they got 61 runs ahead of OGDCL at the NBP Sports Complex. Waqar Ahmed (81, 107b, 10x4s) and Saad Baig (80, 128b 10x4s) put on 162 runs for the second wicket to lay the foundation for the first innings lead.

Imran Rafiq was unbeaten on 54 off 152 balls hitting five fours, while Junaid Ali and Sarmad Bhatti had contributed 34 and 24 runs, respectively. For OGDCL, Adil Amin, Mushtaq Ahmed, Muhammad Imran and Mohammad Huzaifa picked up one wicket each.

Sahir Associates were made to follow-on at the UBL Sports Complex as they fell for 103 in 39.2 overs in response to WAPDA’s first innings total of 323 all out in 89.2 overs. In their second dig, Sahir closed the day two with 94-5 on the board in 30 overs.

WAPDA’s charge in the second bowling innings was led by right-arm pacer Mohammad Zeeshan who ripped through Sahir’s top-order with impressive spell of four for 18 in 11 overs including four maidens.

Mohammad Saleem was unbeaten on 25 off 82 balls at stumps, while Fahad Usman (28, 37b, 4x4s) and Ahmar Ashfaq (20, 37b, 4x4s) got starts but couldn’t convert. In the first innings, WAPDA’s Mohammad Adil bagged four for 24, while he was aided by Naqeebullah and Zeeshan, who both snapped three scalps each in Sahir’s demolition.

Skipper Asim Ali Nasir’s 99-ball 58 comprising of 10 fours was not enough for Sahir, while their unbeaten batter following-on, Saleem contributed a 74-ball 21 in first innings.

Earlier, WAPDA could only add 16 runs to their overnight total of 307-6 as Sahir took just 34 balls to wrap up their innings with Razaullah and Khan Zaib picking up four wickets each.

PTV closed the day two with 153-7 in 49 overs in their second innings against Ghani Glass as they led by 116 runs at the National Bank Stadium. After conceding a 37-run first innings deficit, PTV’s second dig began with more trouble with the defending champions slipping to 68-5 in 21.5 overs.

Mohammad Suleman (45, 72b, 6x4s) and Arafat Minhas (34, 55b, 4x4s, 1x6) then stitched a valuable 65-run stand halting Ghani Glass’ audacious advance. Mir Hamza then removed Arafat to bring an end to the resistance in 37th over, while skipper Noman Ali picked up Suleman in the 47th over.

Amad Butt (13 not out, 48b, 1x4) and Musa Khan (2 not out) were on the crease when stumps were drawn. For Ghani Glass Test bowlers Hamza and Noman picked up two wickets each, while Khurram Shahzad and Afaq Afridi were also in the wickets column taking one scalp each
