SNGPL hand SBP 48-run defeat after Shehzad's 11-wicket match haul

Karachi, 12 January 2026: The third round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I 2025-26 concluded with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) getting back to winning ways after their eight-wicket defeat against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in the last round.

SNGPL took only seven balls on day four to bag a 48-run victory over State Bank of Pakistan at the State Bank Stadium as they eked out the two remaining wickets for five runs.

Overnight unbeaten batter Qasim Akram fell for 37 runs off 58 balls after resuming at 33 not out as Shehzad Gul added a sixth wicket to his innings and 11th to his match tally bagging best first-class figures of 11-91.

SNGPL now sit on the second spot on the table with 59 points followed by PTV, who have accrued 49 points after three rounds.

The fixture between Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) eed in a stalemate at the NBP Sports Complex. Chasing 275 to win, KRL were 82-2 in 22 overs when the teams shook hands.

Left-handed opening batter Shahzaib Khan remained unbeaten on 45 off 63 balls hitting five fours and two sixes after KRL slipped to 31-2 with OGDCL sensing a collapse. Imran Rafiq faced 43 balls for 10 runs not out to put any hopes of a win for the OGDCL to bed.

Earlier, OGDCL’s Mohammad Sarwar Afridi registered his third first-class century (115, 175b, 9x4s, 3x6s) after resuming from overnight score of 90. OGDCL were 199-4 in 68 overs and 96 runs ahead of KRL at the start of day before they added another 178 runs for the remaining six wickets.

Half-centuries from Danish Aziz (70, 97b, 8x4s, 2x6s), skipper Adil Amin (55, 133b, 4x4s) and a 66-ball 25 from Muhammad Imran led OGDCL to 377 all out in 120.5 overs. KRL’s Arshad Iqbal picked up four for 57, while Ahmed Bashir accounted for three scalps.

KRL (43) and OGDCL (37) sit on 4th and 5th spot on the table, respectively after winning one game each out of the three.
