Rawalpindi, 28 October 2025: South Africa defeated Pakistan by 55 runs in the first T20I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday evening. Both sides will now feature in the second T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, 31 October. The third and final T20I of the series will also be staged at the same venue on Saturday, 1 November.
Chasing 195 runs to win, the hosts were dismissed for 139 in 18.1 overs. Mohammad Nawaz, coming in to bat at number seven, scored 36, while also taking three wickets in a losing cause. Other batters to reach double figures included Saim Ayub (37, 28b, 1x4, 4x6s), Sahibzada Farhan (24, 19b, 4x4s) and Usman Khan (12, 12b, 1x4).
For South Africa, Corbin Bosch was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 14 runs in four overs, while left-arm spinner George Linde claimed three wickets.
Earlier, after being put into bat in a match where the hosts donned pink-coloured kits in support of the breast cancer awareness cause, South Africa posted 194 for nine in their 20 overs.
Opening batter Reeza Hendricks top-scored for the visitors with a 40-ball 60, which included five fours and a six. Down the order, Linde scored a quick-fire 22-ball 36, hitting four fours and a six.
For Pakistan, Nawaz took three wickets for 26 runs, while Saim Ayub bagged two.
