Faisalabad, 6 November 2025: Quinton de Kock’s 22nd ODI hundred helped South Africa beat Pakistan by eight wickets in the second ODI at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Thursday evening.
Both sides will now feature in the third and final ODI on Saturday, 8 November with the series level at one each.
South Africa chased down the 270-run target in 40.1 overs. de Kock (123 not out, 119b, 8x4s, 7x6s) combined with Tony de Zorzi (76, 63b, 9x4s, 3x6s) knitted a 153-run partnership for the second wicket to lead the chase. Opening batter Lhuan-dre-Pretorius scored a 40-ball 46 including seven fours and one six.
For Pakistan, Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Wasim Jnr bagged one wicket apiece.
Earlier, opting to bat first, Pakistan scored 269-9 in their 50 overs courtesy half-centuries from Saim Ayub (53, 66b, 5x4s, 1x6), Mohammad Nawaz (59, 59b, 3x4s, 4x6s) and top-scorer Salman Ali Agha (69, 106b, 5x4s).
After losing three early wickets, Saim and Agha stitched a 92-run partnership for the fourth wicket, before the former was dismissed in the 25th over. Nawaz’s late fireworks and Faheem’s cameo of 18-ball 28 including two fours and two sixes lifted the green shirts to a respectable total.
For the tourists, Nandre Burger was the pick of the bowlers with 4-46 in 10 overs, while wrist spinner Nqabayomzi Peter claimed three wickets for 55 runs. Fast bowler Corbin Bosch bagged two wickets for 58 runs.
