39th PCB Board of Governors meeting

Lahore January 29, 2016: The 39th PCB Board of Governors meeting was held here today at the National Cricket Academy with Chairman Shaharyar M. Khan presiding over the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Najam Sethi, Chairman Executive Committee, Mr. Zafar Mehmood, Chairman WAPDA, Mr. Shakil Ahmed Shaikh, Chairman Cricket Committee, Mr. Gul Zada, Peshawar Region, , Professor Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi, Karachi Region, Maj (R) Naeem Akhtar Gillani, Rawalpindi Region, , Mr. Amjad Latif, SNGPL, and Secretary IPC Muhammad Ali Gardezi.Mr. Subhan Ahmad, COO, Mr. Badar Manzoor Khan, CFO, and Mr. Amjad Hussain, Director Media& Coordination, and Mr. Salman Naseer, Secretary to the Board, were also present.

Chairman PCB Shaharyar M Khan has said that prospect of revival of international cricket would be quite bright. He said that Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan have been appointed adviser to the Chairman. The board will continue to benefit from the expert opinion of these eminent cricketers in the decision making process of game development in the country. He also appreciated the valuable input of Misbah ul Haq on cricketing matters. He said that  Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan views for the promotion of cricket would give strong impetus in the development of cricket. PCB would undertake major initiative in strengthening domestic cricket, human resource development and attaining optimum level of efficiency.

Chairman PCB has said that comprehensive audit mechanism is being adopted in order to attain effective financial management and accountability. Chairman has also said that prospects of touring Afghanistan Cricket Team to Pakistan soon. He said that PSL would have deep impact in strengthening domestic cricket system in Pakistan.  

Chairman Executive Committee & Chairman Governing Council PSL Mr. Najam Sethi has apprised the board that comprehensive administrative and operational mechanism has been evolved to execute a project of PSL to be held wef 4th Feb to24th Feb at UAE.. He further said that holding of PSL would be instrumental in strengthening the cricket system, provision of international exposure to our domestic players and patronage to our young players. He said that complete transparency and operational efficiency would be the dominant feature of implementation mechanism of this gigantic initiative of PCB. He informed the board that all five franchises have made all the payment to PCB. He said that no outstanding dues exist on their part. Board has expressed satisfaction over the progress of PSL.

The Board has approved the creation of the post of Director Infrastructure and Real Estate in PCB to monitor and maximizing revenue from PCB properties and state management.

Chairman Cricket Committee Mr. Shakil Sheikh briefed the board about the various steps taken for the promotion of domestic cricket in the country. He said that for the first time fitness based trials took place at the inter regional under-19 with the age verification of players for selection of regionals teams  in the country.

Chairman Game Development committee Mr. Naeem Akhtar Gillani has briefed the board about the various initiatives taken for the development of the cricket in the country.

The Board has approved that Annual General Meeting would be held on 14th April 2016.

During the board of governing meeting one minute silence was observed in commemorating the martyrs of Charsada incident.
