David Warner's epic 335 not out put Australia in driving seat

Lahore, 30 November 2019: David Warner’s unbeaten 335 followed by a hostile spell of pace bowling by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc gave the hosts total control of the second Test against Pakistan being played at the Adelaide Oval on day-two of the match on Saturday.

After declaring their first innings at 583 for three, Australia pacers reduced Pakistan to 96 for six at close of play.

Resuming their first inning at 302 for one, Australia built their huge total on Warner’s maiden Test triple century. He became the seventh Australian to cross the coveted 300-run mark off his 389th ball, Warner hit 37 fours in his innings.

Australian captain Tim Paine declared the innings when Warner reached 335 crossing Australia legends Don Bradman and Mark Taylor’s 334 run Test innings against England and Pakistan respectively.

Shaheen Shah Afridi who added Marnus Labuschagne (162) and Steve Smith’s (36) wickets today, was the most successful Pakistan bowler with three for 88 in 30 overs.

Pakistan in reply were reduced to 96 for six at close of play in their first innings. Opener Imam-ul-Haq (2), Azhar Ali (9), Shan Masood (19), Asad Shafiq (9), Iftikhar Ahmed (10), Mohammad Rizwan (0) were the batsmen dismissed.

Babar Azam was batting on 43 while Yasir Shah was not out on four when stumps were drawn for the day. For Australia Mitchell Starc was the most successful bowler with four wickets.
