PCB advance coaching course for regional coaches concludes in Multan

  • Four former Test cricketers also among 35 course participants at Inzamam-ul-Haq High Performance Centre

Multan, 20 January 2026: A six-day advance coaching course organised by National Cricket Academy’s Coach Education and Development Department concluded at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High Performance Centre in Multan on Tuesday, the PCB announced today.

A total of 35 regional coaches including four Test cricketers Asad Shafiq, Naveed Ashraf, Shahid Nazir and Zahoor Elahi participated in the coaching course held from 15 to 20 January.

The course was led by Head of Coach Education and Development Shahid Aslam, Manager Coach Education Rahat Abbas, NCA Head Biomechanics Dr Imran Abbas, NCA coach Mohtashim Rashid, Head of HPC Multan Umer Rashid and physiotherapist Dr Tayyab and strength & conditioning trainer Iftikhar Hussain.

The intensive programme was designed to elevate the strategic and technical expertise of domestic coaches, equipping them with modern-day methods to nurture talent as they work year-round in their respective districts and regions. 

The curriculum comprised of 12 different domains, which are considered pillars of modern-day coaching especially the grassroots level and then up to the domestic circuit.

The lectures and activities in the six days included, contemporary coaching philosophies, Biomechanics, skill acquisition, long-term player development, strategic planning, advanced physical conditioning, sports psychology, technical skill enhancement, performance analysis through video technology, athlete management system, injury prevention and emergency CPR procedures, sports nutrition and one-on-one coaching and mentorship methods.

Shahid Aslam, PCB Head of Coach Education and Development:

“It is pertinent that the PCB’s Coach Education and Development department continues to help all our coaches across Pakistan grow as professionals and highly-skilled leaders in the game. In that regard, we had arranged this six-day programme, which marks the beginning of a continuous evaluations process.

“Participants will be recalled to the NCA after a four-month implementation phase at the conclusion of the current domestic season for a final assessment. The coaches who coaches who demonstrate effective application of their learnings will be certified and helped to step up in their careers.”
