PCB National / Regional Academies Program

Lahore 22 February 2012: In response to some media reports Pakistan Cricket Board wants to highlight that it has an extensive schedule for Academy Programs for the current and coming years. The programs that could not take place in 2009 and 2010 have been restarted and are included in the schedule. The priority of Game Development Department is to design the programs on modern lines in order to keep our talent competitive on international level.

In 2012/13, we planned to conduct a full fledged Game Development Programs which will include a 12 weeks NCA Emerging/Future Players Program, 6-8 weeks U-19 Program, 4 weeks U-16 Program, 8 weeks U-19 Regional Academies Program (in all 11 Regions), 2 weeks Regional U-16 Program and NCA Specialized Coaching Programs for which 4 consultants namely Mr. Javed Miandad (Batting), Mr. Sarfraz Nawaz (Fast Bowling), Mr. Abdul Qadir (Spin Bowling) and Mr. Rashid Latif (Wicket Keeping) have already been employed to unearth new talent Nationwide.

In addition to above mentioned, NCA also conducts regular Game Education Programs for Coach, Trainer, Physiotherapist and Cricket Analysts and also intend to conduct a 2nd Level III and First ever Level IV Coaching Course in 2012 in collaboration with Cricket Australia.

 National Cricket Academy started working in 2004 under the auspicious of Pakistan Cricket Board with a vision to develop the Game Developmental Activities through out the country to unearth / further grooming of young Talented Players.

In 2004, all the Game Development Activities i.e. 8 weeks National and Regional Academies Program, 12 weeks Emerging Players Program at NCA was conducted as per the Game Development Program. Meanwhile in 2005 and 2006 only a shortened NCA Programs was conducted due to unknown reasons. Then again in 2007 and 2008, 12 weeks NCA Emerging Players and 8 weeks Regional Academies programs were carried out along with all the other Game Development Activities which included the First ever PCB Level III Coaching Course in collaboration with Cricket Australia and ACC Level II Coaching Course for Coaches from Asian Cricket Developing Countries. Since then Academy Programs could not be held on full swing as few Specialized Coaching and only U-16 Coaching Programs were conducted in the year 2010 & 2011 with no Academies Program during 2009.
