Karachi, 16 December 2025: The fifth round of the President’s Cup Grade-I 2025-26 saw Sahir Associates, Ghani Glass emerge victorious in the day games, while Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) won the day-night games on Tuesday at the four venues in Karachi.

The sixth and penultimate round of the tournament will take place on Thursday, 18 December at the same four venues in Karachi with SBP v WAPDA and PTV v SNGPL being the day-night fixtures.

Sahir Associates continued their winning momentum bagging their third win on the trot as they restricted Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to 222 all out in pursuit of 310-run target at the KCCA Stadium.

Faham-ul-Haq backed up his unbeaten century in the previous round with impressive all-round performance, which included 4-30 with the ball and a half-century (66, 86b, 5x4s, 1x6) at the top of the order to provide Sahir a 119-run opening stand along with Fahad Usman (68, 90b, 7x4s, 2x6s).

Following Fahad’s departure in the 25th over, Faham and Usman Khan put on 89 runs for the second wicket, with the latter striking five fours and four sixes in his 42-ball 61 taking their team score to 208.

Mohammad Faiq contributed 34 off 33 balls including two fours and one six, while Razaullah (19, 9b, 1x4, 2x6s) and Mohammad Saleem (16, 17b, 1x4) took Sahir Associates to a formidable 309-8 in the allotted 50 overs. For WAPDA, Akif Javed, Mohammad Wasim Jnr and Ahmed Safi Abdullah picked up two wickets each.

In turn, WAPDA slid to 122-6 despite opening batter Muhammad Akhlaq’s half-century (55, 77b, 4x4s). No. 7 batter Nabi Gul contributed 47 off 51 balls hitting two fours and as many sixes but in vain as he got no support from the other end. WAPDA were bowled out for 222 in 44 overs.

Apart from Faham’s four-wicket haul, Sahir’s Hafiz Mohammad Suleman finished with figures of 10-1-28-3.

Ghani Glass registered their second consecutive win as they beat State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) by five wickets at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi, chasing the 151-run target in 37 overs.

Player of the match Mohammad Rameez Jnr spun a web around the SBP batters as he picked up four for 29 off his 10 overs including a maiden over, while pacer Shoaib Akhtar Jnr dismissed four batters for 37 runs in 6.3 overs.

SBP stumbled to 33-3 and then 95-5 before losing 55-5 as they folded for 150 in 39.3 overs. Only Mohammad Hurraira (36, 60b, 2x4s, 1x6) and Muhammad Irfan Khan (34, 45b, 3x4s, 1x6) managed to go past the 30-run mark for the SBP.

In turn, Ghani Glass rode on Mohsin Riaz’s half-century (59, 98b, 3x4s, 2x6s) to seal the target with 13 overs to spare. He also shared a 69-run third-wicket stand with Hammad Butt (32 not out, 54b, 2x4s, 1x6). For SBP, Mehran Mumtaz picked up two wickets for 52 runs in his 10 overs.

Khan Research Laboratories registered their third win of the tournament beating Pakistan Television by 71 runs at the Naya Nazimabad Ground. KRL’s top four batters did the bulk of the scoring in their total of 283-7 in 50 overs with only no.3 batter Waqar Ahmed (47, 53b, 6x4s) falling short of half-century.

Shahzaib Khan – who fell 13 runs short of his maiden List A century – did well to put on a 99-run opening stand with Saad Baig (51, 54b, 8x4s). In all, Shahzaib faced 107 balls striking five fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease.

Following Saad’s departure, Waqar Ahmed joined forces with Shahzaib to stitch a 92-run stand before PTV struck four blows as KRL went from 191-1 to 199-6 losing five for eight in 27 balls. It was at this juncture that skipper Iftikhar Ahmed (63 not out, 54b, 3x4s, 3x6s) took it upon himself to propel his team to a competitive score, stitching a 63-run stand with Ahmad Hassan (19, 17b, 2x4s).

For PTV, Faisal Akram, Ali Usman and Ahmed Daniyal picked up two wickets each.

In turn, PTV struggled to find feet in the chase as they first slipped to 77-4 in 20.4 overs. No.6 batter Taimur Khan (68, 63b, 7x4s, 3x6s) and Yasir Khan (60, 90b, 5x4s, 2x6s) brought a semblance of stability with 64-run stand, which soon perished as KRL lost their next wickets for 63 runs.

Arshad Iqbal’s figures of 9.1-1-41-4 coupled with Sufyan Moqim’s three for 41 in 10 overs proved fatal for PTV as they bagged their third loss in five games in the tournament.

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited continued winning ways with a fifth consecutive triumph in the tournament as they beat Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited by five wickets at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.

Opening batter Imam-ul-Haq slammed his second-consecutive century in the tournament and 16th in of his List A career as OGDCL chased the 244-run target with 21 balls to spare. Imam remained unbeaten for 129 off 118 balls hitting 13 fours and two sixes as five wickets fell around him during the chase.

OGDCL slipped to 109-4 before Imam and Danish Aziz (49, 71b, 4x4s) dug deep, fetching 115 runs in 20.3 overs. Mohammad Sarwar Afridi remained unbeaten on 12. SNGPL’s Sajid Khan finished with two for 43 in his 10 overs.

Earlier, SNGPL found themselves struggling at 111-5 after opting to bat first with no.3 Kamran Ghulam falling one short of his half-century as he was run out by Imam. Muhammad Shahzad (65, 72b, 4x4s, 2x6s) and Muhammad Awais Zafar (29, 37b, 1x4, 1x6) then stitched a 73-run stand to take their team closer to the 200-run mark.

Sajid Khan (18, 21b, 1x4) and Mohammad Salman’s (16 not out, 22b, 1x4, 1x6) made sure SNGPL had a fighting total on the board as they finished with 243-9 in 50 overs. OGDCL’s pacers Mohammad Amir Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
