Six centuries scored in first-round of National U19 Cup

Lahore, 14 October 2021: As many as six centuries were scored as Sindh U19 Whites, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites, Southern Punjab U19 Whites, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues, Central Punjab U19 Blues and Northern U19 Blues won their first-round one-day matches of the National U19 Cup today.

In a Pool A match at Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala, Sindh U19 Whites thrashed Central Punjab U19 Whites by 137 runs, Wahaj Riaz scored a scintillating 154 while Habibullah scored 138 to help Sindh U19 Whites amass 387 for seven in their 50 overs.

Central Punjab U19 Whites were restricted to 250 for nine in reply. Ali Razzaq and Azan Awais scored half-centuries. Abdul Rehman took four wickets.

In another Pool A match at Jinnah Stadium Sialkot, Afaq Khan’s 107 helped Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites post 279 all out in 47.5 overs. Balochistan U19 Whites were bowled out for 140 in 42.2 overs in reply. Muhammad Umer and Khalid Shah took three wickets each.

In the third Pool A match of the day at the Lahore Country Club Muridke, Southern Punjab U19 Whites beat Northern U19 Whites by nine wickets in a match reduced to 21 overs.

Northern U19 Whites posted 127 for eight with Abdul Jabbar top-scoring with 28 runs. Arafat Ahmed took four wickets for 27 runs. Southern Punjab U19 Whites chased down the score in 18.4 overs with Arafat following his bowling brilliance with a 57-run contribution. Aon Shehzad scored 53, both Arafat and Aon remained not out.

In a Pool B fixture at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues thrashed Balochistan U19 Blues by a massive 205-run margin. Maaz Ahmed Sadaqat hit 132 as KP posted 301 for five.

Balochistan U19 Blues were rolled over for 96 in reply, Salahuddin and Ayaz Shah took four wickets each.

In the second Pool B fixture of the day played at the National Cricket Ground Islamabad, Central Punjab U19 Blues defeated Sindh U19 Blues by 37 runs. Batting first, Central Punjab posted 262 for six with Muhammad Waqas scoring 100. Abrar Afzal contributed 43 runs.

In reply Sindh U19 Blues were bowled out for 225 in 49 overs. Captain Rizwan Mehmood scored 71 while Huzaifa Munir contributed 67 runs. Ali Asfand took four while Awais Ali took three wickets.

In the third Pool B fixture of the day played at the Shalimar Cricket Ground Islamabad, Northern U19 Blues recorded a thumping 76-run win over Southern Punjab U19 Blues. Northern U19 Blues posted 305 for nine, opener Shamyl Hussain scored 133 runs. M Hussain made a 46-run contribution. Huzaifa Shafiq took four wickets.

Southern Punjab U19 Blues in reply were dismissed for 229 runs in 44 overs. Moheer Saeed scored 96, his opening partner Usama Aqeel contributed 46 runs. Muhammad Awais and captain Mehran Mumtaz took three wickets each.
