Lahore, 23 September 2025: Rawalpindi’s Mehran Mumtaz picked up a six-fer, while five batters registered centuries with Bismillah, Saifullah and Zain abbas remaining unbeaten on day two of the fifth round of Hanif Mohammad Trophy across six venues in four cities.
Group A
Karachi Whites’ wicketkeeper-batter Saifullah Bangash struck an unbeaten 110 off 184 balls with the help of 12 fours batting at no.7 as they declared their first innings at 450-8 in 136 overs after resuming from overnight score of 184-5. Mohammad Taha – who was 91 not out at the start – fell two runs short of his century.
In reply, AJK gathered 113-1 in 37 overs as Hasan Raza (64 not out, 115b, 6x4s) and Hasnain Shamir (42 not out, 111b, 5x4s) put on an unbeaten 111-run stand for the second wicket.
Faisalabad had managed a 51-run second innings lead over Hyderabad when the stumps were drawn at the Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur as they finished 71-1 in 21 overs with Faham-ul-Haq unbeaten on 48 off 68 balls hitting seven fours.
Earlier, Hyderabad were bowled for 189 in 80.1 overs after resuming from overnight score of 41-1 managing a slender 20-run first innings lead. Opening batter Zain-ul-Abidin scored 107 off 249 balls hitting 11 fours. For Faisalabad, Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Asad Raza picked up three wickets each.
Quetta’s Bismillah Khan struck an unbeaten 173 off 209 balls comprising 16 fours and five sixes to help his team post 303-6 in 99 overs in reply to Lahore Blues’ 450 all out at the Abbasia Sports Complex, Rahim Yar Khan. He put on a crucial 154-run stand with Haseebullah (62, 193b, 10x4s) after their team slid to 22-2.
Earlier, Lahore Blues’ only faced five balls in the morning before losing their last wicket.
Group B
Multan’s Zain Abbas struck an unbeaten 158 off 201 balls with the help of 13 fours and two sixes as they reached 322-1 in 77 overs at close of play on day two in reply to Larkana’s 329 at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi.
Zain shared a 161-run opening stand with Waqar Hussain (72, 122b, 9x4s) and an a second-wicket stand of as many runs with Ahmar Ashfaq (69 not out, 149b, 10x4s). Earlier, Larkana could only add two runs to their overnight score of 327-7.
FATA inflicted follow-on upon Dera Murad Jamali at the SBP Sports Complex in Karachi as the latter was bundled out for 153 in 52 overs in reply to former’s 311 all out in 95.4 overs.
For FATA, Asif Afridi and Arshadullah picked up four wickets each. In their second dig, DM Jamali were 52-3 in 20 overs at close of play.
Earlier, FATA were bowled out for 311 after resuming from overnight score of 288-6 in 90 overs.
At the UBL Sports Complex, the Karachi Blues gained a 241-run first innings lead over Rawalpindi as they turned their overnight score of 195-2 into a 425 all out in 104.3 overs. Blues’ Omair Bin Yousuf fell for 100 off 138 balls hitting 13 fours and two sixes. For Rawalpindi, Mehran Mumtaz bagged six wickets in 40.3 overs.
In turn, Rawalpindi finished the day two with 100-2 in 27 overs – trailing by another 141 runs - with Abdul Faseeh unbeaten on 47 off 84 balls.
