Karachi, 18 December 2025: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) registered their sixth win on the trot as they beat Sahir Associates by three wickets at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Thursday in the sixth round of the President’s Cup Grade-I.

Ghani Glass won the other day fixture of the sixth round beating Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at the KCCA Stadium.

The last and seventh round of the tournament will take place on Saturday, 20 December at the same venues with the National Bank Stadium and Naya Nazimabad Ground games being day-night fixtures.

OGDCL chased the 279-run target set by Sahir Associates with 27 balls to spare and Danish Aziz unbeaten on 55 off 59 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Danish had put on a 65-run stand for the sixth wicket with Umar Siddiq, who changed the tempo of the chase with a 33-ball 40 hitting five fours and a solitary six.

Opening batter Maaz Sadaqat got off to a flying start hitting 11 fours in his 30-ball 50 in a 47-run opening stand with Imam-ul-Haq, who only added 11. After Maaz’s departure, Abbas Ali (68, 63b, 4x4s, 4x6s) and Raja Hamza Waheed (40, 52b, 4x4s, 1x6) came together to add 64 runs for the third wicket laying the ground for a successful chase.

For Sahir Associates, Faham-ul-Haq picked up two wickets for 20 runs in six overs including two maidens.

Earlier, Sahir Associates gathered 148 runs for one wicket before sliding to a 117 for eight collapse on their way to post 278-9 in 50 overs. Skipper Asim Ali Nasir and Faham-ul-Haq stitched a 143-run second-wicket stand after Fahad Usman fell for a 15-ball duck to player of the match Mohammad Huzaifa.

Asim’s 88 came off 97 balls with the help of 13 fours, while Faham scored his 60 off 78 balls hitting six fours and one six. Following their departure with score on 148 and 158, contributions from Mohammad Afzal (30, 21b, 1x4, 2x6s), Khawaja Mohammad Abdullah (26, 17b, 3x4s, 1x6) and Mohammad Faiq (24, 25b, 1x4, 1x6) kept the scorecard ticking but Sahir were unable to make the most of the platform provided by Asim and Faham.

For OGDCL, Huzaifa returned figures of 10-1-57-4, while skipper Adil Amin dismissed two batters.

At the KCCA Stadium, Ghani Glass’ Zafar Gohar wreaked havoc with the ball taking outstanding figures of six for 21 in 10 overs bowling two maidens to restrict KRL to 165 all out in 41.2 overs as they fell 35 runs short.

KRL’s spectacular collapse included losing all ten wickets for a mere 42 runs after Shahzaib Khan (52, 72b, 5x4s, 2x6s) and Saad Baig (45, 52b, 5x4s, 1x6) had put on a 107-run opening stand. Apart from Zafar’s career best List A figures, skipper Noman Ali chipped in with two wickets, while Mohammad Rameez Jnr and Ubaid Shah struck once each.

Ghani Glass too suffered a batting collapse of 98-9 from being 102-1 to 200 all out after being put in to bat first by KRL. Following Yahya Bin Abdul Rehman’s early departure, Sharjeel Khan (58, 48b, 4x4s, 4x6s) and Mohsin Riaz (32, 39b, 2x4s, 2x6s) stitched a 85-run stand.

Tayyab Tahir (33, 42b, 3x4s), Hussain Talat (26, 35b, 3x4s) and Hammad Butt (20, 48b) got starts but were unable to convert them.

KRL’s left-arm wrist-spinner Sufyan Moqim tightened the screws around Ghani Glass batters with best bowling figures in his List A career (4-22 in 8.1 overs) eclipsing his previous best of 4-52 on ODI debut against South Africa in Johannesburg on 22 December 2024. He was supported by pacers Ahmed Bashir and Arshad Iqbal as they struck twice each.

PTV rode on Shamyl Hussain’s second century in the tournament to 321-9 against SNGPL and later restricted them to 300-9 in 50 overs with the help of Faisal Akram’s three wickets.

Left-handed opening batter Shamyl slammed 143 off 124 balls hitting 12 fours and six sixes as he batted for 41.5 overs. The 21-year-old shared a vital 198-run third-wicket stand with Mohammad Suleman (86, 88b, 4x4s, 5x6s), following which PTV lost the next seven wickets for a mere 80 runs.

Aamir Jamal picked up three wickets, while his fellow pacers Muhammad Shahzad and Shahnawaz Dahani struck twice each.

SNGPL pursuit of the 322-run target kept getting dented by the regular fall of wickets despite half-centuries from Kamran Ghulam (66, 92b, 7x4s) and Muhammad Shahzad (53, 41b, 10x4s).

Skipper Shan Masood (45, 38b, 6x4s, 1x6) and Kamran added 65 runs after Azan Awais’ early departure PTV spinners Ali Usman and Faisal Akram then struck in back-to-back overs to reduce SNGPL to 86-3. Shahzad provided the impetus at this juncture with his 10-boundaries laden knock before falling prey to Mohammad Taha.

SNGPL’s chase didn’t recover after Muhammad Awais Zafar (26, 31b, 2x4s) and Kamran were removed in a space of 18 balls after adding 52 runs for the fifth wicket.

From 224-6 in 38th over, it became a catching game for SNGPL with Haseebullah (20, 19b, 2x4s), Aamir Jamal (19, 25b) and Sajid Khan (26, 24b, 2x4s, 1x6) departing after small periods of stability. Mohammad Irfan (16 not out, 13b, 2x4s) and Shahnawaz Dahani (9 not out, 6b, 2x4s) remained unbeaten in the end, while the game was long gone out of SNGPL’s grip.

Ahmed Daniyal and Israr Hussain’s pace yielded two wickets each for PTV.

SBP thumped WAPDA by 110 runs to hand them their fifth defeat in the tournament and finally got back to winnings ways themselves bagging their second win.

After SBP opted to bat, WAPDA’s Sharoon Siraj bamboozled their batter with his off-spin removing six of the top seven batters. SBP were left reeling at 101 for six in 24.3 overs before Kashif Bhatti (65, 70b, 4x4s, 4x6s) and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori (58, 70b, 4x4s, 1x6) put on a game-changing 119-run stand.

Mehram Mumtaz (20, 19b, 2x4s) and Rameez Aziz’s (15 not out, 13b, 1x4) meant that SBP crossed the 250-run mark and had a fighting total on the board in the form of 257-9. Akif Javed picked up two wickets, while Sharoon’s six came for 29 runs in 10 overs.

In turn, WAPDA had no answer to the spin bowling challenge posed by SBP as they folded for 147 in 37 overs with only Rafay Rana (28, 28b, 5x4s, 1x6), Bismillah Khan (24, 44b) and Nabi Gul (22, 42b, 3x4s) crossing the 20-run mark.

SBP’s trio of spinners including Salman Ali Agha (4-40), Kashif Bhatti (3-36) and Mehran Mumtaz (1-21) shared eight wickets among themselves in 28 overs combined.
