Sindh U19 Whites' Saqlain Nawaz takes 10 wickets in drawn game

Karachi, 17 August 2022: Saqlain Nawaz took ten wickets as Sindh U19 Whites played out a drawn game against Central Punjab U19 Whites at the end of fourth round match of the National U19 Championship in Karachi on Wednesday. In the Pool B match being staged at the Hanif Mohammad HPC Ground, Central Punjab U19 Whites managed to score 110 for eight in 34.1 overs in their second innings when stumps were drawn.

Muneeb Wasif coming to bat at number eight scored an unbeaten 55 off 70 balls, which included seven fours and two sixes. Sindh U19 Whites’ right-arm fast bowler Saqlain bagged four wickets for 29 in 13.1 overs. He ended up taking 10 wickets for 72 runs in the match. Daniyal Ahmed grabbed three wickets for 18 runs in the second innings.

Pool A fixtures:

At the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy, Balochistan U19 Blues trailing by 75 runs against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Blues managed to score 72 for two in 21.1 overs in their second innings when play was stopped due to rain. No play occurred in the remaining day while Balochistan U19 Blues opening batter Basit Ali returned undefeated on 50. His innings included three fours and as many sixes.

At the NBP Sports Complex, in another drawn fixture, resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 120 for six in 43.4 overs, Northern U19 Blues were dismissed for 182 in 55.5 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Aftab top-scored with a 123-ball 96, hitting nine fours and two sixes.

Southern Punjab U19 Blues’ Bilal Ahmed was the most successful bowler with four wickets for 56. Kashif Fareed and Mohammad Shan bagged two wickets apiece.

In return, Southern Punjab U19 Blues were 20 for 2 in six overs when stumps were drawn.

At the UBL Sports Complex, resuming their first innings at the score of 125 for two in 30 overs, Sindh U19 Blues declared their innings on 235 for seven in 65 overs against Central Punjab U19 Blues.

For Central Punjab Blues, Ali Asfand bagged four wickets for 58.

In return, Central Punjab U19 Blues were 105 for three in 39.1 overs when the match ended in a draw. Farhan Yousuf top-scored with an unbeaten 53 off 93 balls, hitting four fours and two sixes.

Pool B fixtures:

No play occurred on the third day in the Pool B fixture between Balochistan U19 Whites and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U19 Whites being played at the KCCA Stadium. The match ended in no result. Meanwhile, the match between Northern U19 Whites and Southern Punjab U19 Whites at the TMC Ground was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.

At the end of fourth round, Sindh U19 Blues are at the top of the Pool A with 12 points. In Pool B, Sindh U19 Whites occupies the top spot with 13 points.  The fifth and final round will be played from 20 August.
