Lahore, 27 June 2025: Pakistan women cricketers have been training diligently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore during the off-season, focusing on skills enhancement and fitness ahead of the upcoming season.
Pakistan women’s team’s next international assignment is tour to Ireland for a three-match T20I series in Dublin from 6 to 10 August. Pakistan team will also take part in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup set to take place from 30 September t0 2 November, where they will play all their matches in Sri Lanka.
Among the players, Aliya Riaz (73 ODIs, 99 T20Is) and spin twins Nashra Sundhu (72 ODIs, 66 T20Is) and Sadia Iqbal (27 ODIs, 47 T20Is), consistent members of the Pakistan T20I and ODI teams in previous years, have been putting in the hard yards at the NCA.
All-rounder Aliya highlighted the team’s commitment to playing responsibly and meeting the expectations of the fans. “We are ensuring that we play according to the team’s requirements while keeping in mind the expectations of our fans. We strive to represent Pakistan in the best possible manner,” she said at the sidelines of a training session.
For left-arm spinner Nashra Sundhu, the recent rise of Sadia Iqbal to the top of T20I rankings has brought a fresh wave of motivation within the team. “It is a proud moment for all of us to see one of our teammates achieve this milestone. It brings a different level of energy and morale to the unit, knowing we have bowlers among us capable of being the world’s best,” Nashra said.
Sadia, who has been working on her skills during the off-season, emphasised the challenges of bowling with the new ball under pressure. “I try to remain calm and composed in pressure situations. I have been working with coach Abdur Rehman to improve my bowling skills and training with the men’s players at the camp has contributed greatly to my development,” she concluded.
With a focused off-season at the NCA, Pakistan women’s team players are setting sights on consistent performances in the lead up to and in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup later this year.
