Khawaja Nafay shares learnings from second phase of NCA Skills Development camp

Lahore, 27 June 2025: The second phase of the National Cricket Academy Skills Development camp will conclude on Saturday in Lahore. 15 players are participating in the six-day camp, which commenced on 23 June.

The players have been taking part in different skill development and fitness sessions under the supervision of the NCA coaching staff. On Friday, the players also took part in an indoor scenario-based match at the NCA.

Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, who is featuring in the camp, expressed satisfaction over the learnings and structure of the camp. Talking to media, Nafay said: “We wake up at 4.30 am and our session begins at 6 am. We have been learning a lot from Abdul Razzaq regarding power hitting, and playing the spinners has enhanced our skillset.

"In modern-day cricket, you have to have multiple roles in the team, and the coaches have identified my potential as a wicketkeeper, so I am working on those skills as well.

“My target is to contribute to Pakistan’s success in all formats while sticking to my natural game and the coaches have guided us to prepare well and train hard for upcoming challenges”, he further added.

Reflecting on the time he spent with West Indies great Sir Viv Richards in the Quetta Gladiators dressing room during the HBL PSL, he said, “We used to inquire him regarding his methods after watching his batting videos. He told us about the importance of belief as a player, which contributed towards his success.”

The third phase of the Skills Development camp will commence on 30 June and will run until 5 July at the National Cricket Academy.
