Aamir Jamal's 6-35 helps Lahore Blues dominate Karachi Whites

Lahore, 17 September 2025: The day two of the fourth round of Hanif Mohammad Trophy Faisalabad, Lahore Blues, Hyderabad, Karachi Blues, Rawalpindi and Multan gain an edge over their opponents.

Group A

Lahore Blues’ Aamir Jamal ran through Karachi Whites’ batting line-up as he picked up 6-35 in 12 overs to skittle them for 94 in 32.1 overs in the first innings at the Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur.

Karachi Whites were in a 203-run first innings deficit before Lahore Blues added another 205 runs for three wickets in 57 overs stretching their lead to 408 at close of play with the help of half-centuries from Imran Butt (92 not out, 168b, 11x4s) and Umar Siddiq (63, 78b, 8x4s, 2x6s).

Faisalabad’s Abdul Samad struck his third century (127, 165b, 12x4s, 4x6s) in the tournament as his 164-run alliance with Muhammad Awais Zafar (90, 83b, 15x4s, 1x6) took Faisalabad to 371-7 in 85 overs at close of play on day two against Quetta at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Earlier, Faisalabad had started the day with six for no loss in five overs in reply to Quetta’s first innings total of 187.

Hyderabad trailed by 123 runs with seven wickets left in the first innings against Azad Jammu and Kashmir when the stumps were drawn at the Abbasia Sports Complex, Rahim Yar Khan.

Half-centuries from Zain-ul-Abidin (85, 209b, 11x4s), skipper Mohammad Suleman (66 not out, 135b, 7x4s) and Saad Khan (59, 59b, 10x4s, 1x6) as Hyderabad scored 236-3 in 72 overs in reply to AJK’s 359 all out in 103.5 overs. Earlier, AJK resumed their first innings from overnight score of 294-5 in 90 overs.

For Hyderabad, Mohammad Hasnain, Asad Malik and Jawad Ali picked up three wickets each. 

Group B

Larkana were made to follow-on by Karachi Blues at the SBP Sports Complex, Karachi as they folded for 81 all out in 21.2 overs in reply to Karachi Blues’ first innings total of 335 all out in 63.2 overs. For Karachi Blues, Fahad Amin took three wickets, while Mohammad Hamza, Saqib Khan and Mir Hamza picked up two wickets each.

Following on Larkana were 25-3 in 10 overs at close of play on day two and were still 229 runs behind.

Earlier in the day, Karachi Blues resumed their first innings from overnight score of 140-4 in 30.5 overs before no.5 batter Rameez Aziz struck 150 off 130 balls hitting nine fours and nine sixes taking his team to a solid first innings total.

Rawalpindi’s Abdul Faseeh struck unbeaten 120 off 178 balls with the help of 14 fours and two sixes as his team took a 122-run lead over Dera Murad Jamali at the National Bank Stadium. Rawalpindi had reached 242-4 in 67 overs at stumps.

Faseeh stitched a 152-run unbeaten fifth-wicket stand with Aqib Shah (70 not out, 134b, 9x4s) after the two came together at 90-4. Earlier, DM Jamali were bowled out 120 in 45.4 overs after resuming from overnight score of 28-2 in 14.2 overs.

Multan’s Ali Usman picked up 7-56 in 28 overs to help his team dismiss FATA for 284 in 90.4 overs – after they had resumed from overnight score of 132-3 in 44.2 overs – at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi.

In turn, Multan were 160-3 in 50 overs – trailing by 124 runs - at stumps with the help of half-century from Zain Abbas (89 not out, 145b, 10x4s, 1x6).
