Afkar, Riazullah and Zubair half-centuries keep Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unbeaten

Multan, 2 February 2022: Three more Pool A matches in the National U16 One-Day Tournament (45 overs) were played on Wednesday at three Multan venues with Central Punjab U16 Whites, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Whites and Northern U16 Whites winning their games against Balochistan U16 Whites, Southern Punjab U16 Whites and Sindh U16 Whites, respectively.

Half-centuries from Afkar Durrani, Mohammad Zubair and Riazullah Khan led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Whites to a 178-run win over Southern Punjab U16 at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Batting first, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 271 for seven in their allotted 45 overs. Zubair (67, 67b, eight fours, two sixes), Afkar (53, 64b, five fours, one six) and Riazullah (52, 78b, five fours) were significant contributors with the bat.

Southern Punjab Whites’ Tayyab Mukhtar bagged two wickets for 45.

In return, Southern Punjab Whites were dismissed for 93 in the 34th over. Sohaib Akram top-scored with 25. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mohammad Haroon took three wickets for 16, while Adil Waheed and Mohammad Zubair bagged two wickets apiece.

An all-round performance from Central Punjab U16 Whites captain Mohammad Tayyab Arif helped his side to a 93-run win over Balochistan U16 Whites at the Head Mohammad Wala Stadium. Batting first Central Punjab scored 244 for six in 45 overs. Tayyab top-scored with a 104-ball 90, hitting nine fours and two sixes. His opening partner Faham-ul-Haq scored 62 off 80 balls, smashing eight fours. The pair added 176 runs for the first wicket.

Balochistan U16 Whites captain Usman Ghani picked two wickets for 32.

In return, Balochistan Whites were bowled out for 151 in the 41st over. Syed Waqas Ahmed top-scored with 38. Ali Hassan Baloch took five wickets for 22 in seven overs. Tayyab and Ali Hasan picked two wickets each.

At Zawari Cricket Stadium, half-centuries from Aimal Alam and Shahmir Nisar Khan and four wickets by Mohammad Ahmed guided Northern U16 Whites to a 64-run win over Sindh U16 Whites. Batting first, Northern posted 271 for six in 45 overs. Shahmir top-scored with 83 off 73 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes. Aimal Alam scored 82 off 90 balls, hitting nine fours. The pair stitched 122 runs for the second wicket.

For Sindh, Awais Raheem picked three for 46, while Haroon Arshad bagged two for 58.

In return, Sindh were dismissed for 207 in the 44th over. Wicketkeeper-batter Hamza Qureshi top-scored with an unbeaten 36 off 43 balls. Noman Ali scored 30 off 27 balls, hitting four fours. Ahmed took four wickets for 30. Arsh Zaman and Azan Kabir bagged two wickets apiece.
