Karachi, 4 February 2026: Three out of the four matches of the seventh and last round of President’s Trophy Grade-I were decided on Wednesday with Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Ghani Glass and Sahir Associates emerging winners, while State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) were in lead against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
Joint-table toppers SNGPL romped to their fifth win in the tournament as they restricted Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) to 148 runs after setting them a target of 172 runs on day three at the UBL Sports Complex.
Test spinner Sajid Khan claimed his 24th first-class five-for returning figures of 23-3-71-5, while he was backed up by pacer Shehzad Gul who dismissed three batters.
OGDCL slipped from 39 for no loss with Imam-ul-Haq (24, 41b, 2x4s) and Maaz Sadaqat (13, 36b, 1x4) on the crease before Sajid made inroads. OGDCL lost five for 26 as Sajid plucked top three, while Shehzad and Mohammad Ali snapped one each.
Umar Siddiq’s 75-ball 26, Arsal Sheikh’s 18 not out off 37 balls and no.11 Mohammad Amir Khan’s 41-ball 18 was not enough as OGDCL were bowled out for 148 in 55.3 overs. From 112-9, Arsal and Amir added 36 for the last wicket but in vain.
Earlier, SNGPL were dismissed for 181 in their second innings in 53.4 overs with Asif Afridi taking career best first-class match figures of 6-71 and 6-64, besting his previous 11-204. SNGPL had resumed from overnight score of 102-6 in 36 overs with a 92-run lead.
Unbeaten overnight batters Muhammad Awais Zafar (51, 80b, 6x4s, 1x6) and Aamir Jamal (31, 38b, 6x4s) helped SNGPL accumulate enough runs for a fighting total. Asif’s 21st first-class five-for was backed by pacer Mohammad Amir Khan, who picked up four for 74 in 20 overs.
At the KCCA Stadium, Ghani Glass beat Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) by an innings and 101 runs, their third win in the tournament.
Resuming their first innings on 343-9 in 107.4 overs on day three, Ghani Glass managed 354 in 113.1 overs in reply to KRL’s 189 all out. KRL’s off-spinner Hamza Nazar returned figures of 27.1-3-99-4.
With a massive 165-run first innings deficit ahead, KRL slumped to 64 all out in 20.4 overs as Ghani Glass’ pacer Shoaib Akhtar Jnr picked up his third first-class five-for, while player of the match Sameen dismissed four batters.
Shoaib registered outstanding analysis of 10-5-28-5, while Sameen completed 200 wickets in first-class cricket and his second 10-wicket match haul and best figures in the format of 10-73. The duo also bowled 20.4 overs in tandem.
Only Hamza Nazar (26, 26b, 4x4s) and Iftikhar Ahmed (10, 14b, 2x4s) managed to enter double figures for KRL.
At the Oval Academy Ground, Sahir Associates closed the tournament with a memorable 10-wicket win over defending champions PTV, who also crashed out of the race for the final.
Sahir’s third win in the tournament required a mere 17 runs in the second innings, which they hunted down in just three overs with Mohammad Faiq (12 not out, 7b, 3x4s) ending the campaign with exactly 500 runs in seven games.
Earlier, PTV resumed from overnight score of 19-3 in eight overs in second innings and were bundled out for 138 in 36.2 overs. They overcame the first innings deficit of 122 runs but could not set a target big enough to challenge Sahir Associates.
Skipper Hafiz Mohammad Suleman led Sahir Associates with figures of 8.2-3-21-4, while Razaullah and Khan Zeb dismissed two batters each.
SBP closed the day three with 262-3 in 48 overs in their second innings after conceding a slim 18-run first innings deficit. For SBP, Hasan Raza (38, 47b, 3x4s, 2x6s) and Abdullah Fazal (27, 46b, 4x4s) put on a 70-run stand before Muhammad Ghazi Ghori and Mohammad Huraira stitched together 148 runs for the third wicket.
Huraira fell for 72 off 97 balls comprising nine four and one six, while Ghazi Ghori remained unbeaten on 85 off 72 balls having struck 10 fours and two sixes. Kashif Ali was also unbeaten on 32 off 27 balls hitting two fours and three sixes.
