Ahmad Hussain's unbeaten century leads Peshawar to three-wicket win over Multan

Lahore, 1 October 2025: The fifth round of the National Men’s U19 One-Day Cup saw Abbottabad, Sialkot, Faisalabad and Peshawar emerge victorious in Group A, while Group B triumphant teams included Rawalpindi, FATA, Lahore Whites and Karachi Whites as the action unfolded in Sheikhupura, Muridke Peshawar and Charsadda.

Apart from Ahmad Hussain’s ton, Multan’s Sameer Minhas, Sialkot’s Ghulam Haider, Abbottabad’s Mohammad Shayan, Karachi Whites’ Abdul Sami and Lahore Whites’ Farhan yousuf struck centuries in the round.  

Group A

Peshawar’s Ahmad Hussain struck a match-winning unbeaten century (120 not out, 103b, 15x4s) as they chased the 261-run target with six balls to spare and three wickets in hand against Multan at the Rana Naveed Cricket Academy Ground in Sheikhupura.

Ahmad walked in to bat at 44-3 before Peshawar slid to 147-7. From then on, the no.5 batter stitched a 114-run stand with Haroon Khan (32 not out, 38b, 3x4s, 1x6) to steer his team to victory.

Earlier, Multan posted 260-5 in their 50 overs on the back of Sameer Minhas’ (107, 119b, 14x4s) second consecutive century, while Ali Husnain Badshah (74, 83b, 7x4s, 2x6s) scored a half-century. The duo took their team from 75-2 to 214-3. 

At the Lahore Country Club Ground #1 Muridke, Abbottabad’s Muhammad Shayan struck unbeaten 144 off 130 balls hitting 12 fours and one six against Karachi Blues to take his team to 266-6 in 50 overs with the next best score being 32 by Mamoon ul Rasheed.

In turn, Karachi Blues fell 123 runs short as they were bowled out for 143 in 39.2 overs with Abbottabad’s left-arm pacer Jalal taking 4-16 in 6.2 overs.

At the Lahore Country Club Ground 2 in Muridke, Faisalabad beat Larkana by four wickets as they chased the 136-run target in 37.1 overs as Muhammad Usman (35 not out, 66b, 2x4s) and Tawasal Abbas (32 not out, 44b, 1x4, 1x6) lifted the team from 85-6.

Earlier, Faisalabad’s left-arm wrist-spinner Momin Qamar picked up 4-20 in 4.4 overs to skittle Larkana for 135 in 35.4 overs as they slid from 91-2 to lose eight wickets for 44 runs.

Sialkot rode on no.4 batter Ghulam Haider’s century (124, 113b, 12x4s, 3x6s) to post 306-8 in 50 overs at the Sheikhupura Cricket Stadium. In turn, Quetta fell 111 runs short as they were dismissed for 195 in 47.2 overs with Sialkot’s leg-spinner Muhammad Tayyab accounting for 4-22 in 8.2 overs.

Group B

Lahore Whites registered a thumping 195-run win over Dera Murad Jamali at the Mir Awais Cricket Ground in Peshawar with the help of Farhan Yousuf’s 118-ball 134 inclusive of eight fours and six sixes.

Batting first, Whites slipped to 41-4 before Farhan and Naveed Ayub (77, 93b, 7x4s, 2x6s) stitched a 177-run stand to help their team post 291-9 in 50 overs. In turn, Whites’ pacers Abbas Khan (4-34), Hasnain Abbas Dar (3-13) and Muhammad Ayyas (3-46) combined to dismiss DM Jamali for 96 in 21 overs.

FATA bagged a six-wicket win over Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) at the Hayatabad Sports Complex in Peshawar as they chased the 159-run target in 31.4 overs as Haris Shah chipped in with a 72-ball 50 hitting five fours.

AJK folded for a mere 158 in 45.4 overs as FATA’s Naveed Khan picked up 3-35 in 10 overs, while Taimur Ali dismissed two batters for 29 runs in 9.4 overs.

Hyderabad were bundled out for 104 in 33.3 overs at the Shama Cricket Ground in Peshawar chasing 271-run target against Karachi Whites. For the Whites, right-arm leg-spinner Saad Sakhawat picked up 4-10 in six overs.

Earlier, Karachi Whites’ no.3 batter Abdul Sami scored a century hitting a run-a-ball 115 with the help of 17 fours and two sixes to lift his team to 270. He shared a 133-run third-wicket with Huzaifa Ahsan (53, 69b, 6x4s).

Rawalpindi got the better of Islamabad by 48 runs at the Ishfaq Cricket Ground in Charsadda as they successfully defended the 237-run total. Islamabad slipped from 110-4 to 189 all out as they lost six wickets for 79 runs with no.3 batter Awais Ahmed top-scoring with 75 off 87 balls hitting five fours and three sixes. Rawalpindi’s pacers Husnain Ali and Malik Muhammad Haider picked up three wickets each.

Earlier, Rawalpindi were helped to a fighting total by half-centuries from Muhammad Ziyan (57, 49b, 11x4s) and Abdul Qadir (55, 44b, 6x4s, 3x6s). Islamabad’s Awais Ameen returned figures of 10-1-29-4. 

The sixth round will take place on Friday, 3 October at the same venues.
