Lahore, 19 September 2025: The fourth round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy came to conclusion with the remaining three matches ending with triumphs for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Rawalpindi and FATA.
With just one more round to go – which begins on Monday, 22 September – Faisalabad sit atop Group A with two wins and as many drawn games, while AJK are second in Group A. FATA Region are placed on top of the Group B with three wins with Karachi Blues second.
Group A
Azad Jammu and Kashmir registered a brilliant come-from-behind victory – their first in the tournament - against Hyderabad as they defended the 116-run target at the Abbasia Sports Complex, Rahim Yar Khan.
Hyderabad folded for a mere 79 in 30.5 overs in pursuit of the 116-run target as AJK’s Usman Yousaf returned figures of 5.5-0-16-4, while Hasnain Shamir, Zaman Khan and Hasan Raza dismissed two batters each. Earlier, AJK began the day from overnight second innings score of 76 for no loss 24 overs and were still 47 runs behind Hyderabad.
Following the departure of the opening batters Hasan Raza (95, 126b, 15x4s, 1x6) and Hasnain Nadeem (44, 121b, 5x4s) – who put 135-run opening stand – AJK slipped to 167-5 and then 238 all out in 74.5 overs. No.5 batter Awais Akram Minhas (56 not out, 106b, 6x4s) remained unbeaten for half-century pushing AJK’s lead above 100-run mark.
For Hyderabad, Jawad Ali picked up 7-95 to bag a match haul of 10 wickets.
Group B
Rawalpindi chased down the meagre 68-run target in 13.3 overs as they registered their second win of the tournament at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi. Yasir Khan struck six fours and two sixes in his 40-ball 48.
Earlier, DM Jamali’s spirited second innings came to an end in 126.2 overs as they hauled the 257-run first innings deficit but only managed to get 67 runs ahead of Rawalpindi. No.5 batter Dawood Khan’s 275-ball knock came to an end as he converted his overnight score of 69 to 145 hitting 20 fours.
Rawalpindi’s Mubasir Khan returned figures of 47-18-83-5, while Saad Masood picked up two wickets.
FATA went top of the Group B as they bagged their third win of the tournament beating Multan for 81 runs at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi. Multan stumbled to 132 all out in 53 overs in pursuit of a 213-run target as Asif Afridi and Hayatullah picked up three wickets each, while Shahid Aziz dismissed two batters.
Multan began the day with 16 for no loss in seven overs requiring 198 more runs to win but they soon slid to 69-6 and then 132 all out.
