Karachi, 8 December 2025: The opening day of the President’s Cup Grade-I 2025-26 saw Pakistan Television (PTV), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) emerge victorious at the four venues in Karachi on Monday.
SNGPL romped to a thumping 166-run win over Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) on the back of maiden List A centuries by Saad Khan and Muhammad Awais Zafar and a four-wicket haul by off-spinner Mubasir Khan (4-43) at the KCCA Stadium.
After being asked to bat first, SNGPL lost their opening duo of Azan Awais and Haseebullah with 46 runs on the board. Saad, who struck 115 off 102 balls, then stitched a 124-run stand with Shan Masood (58, 72b, 1x4, 2x6) laying the base for a formidable total. Saad fetched 14 fours and three sixes in his knock.
Muhammad Awais Zafar – who walked in at 170-3 – then took SNGPL to 379-6 with a counter-attacking 55-ball century as he finished 108 not out off 57 balls with the help of five fours and nine sixes.
Awais formed a 77-run stand with Saad, 61-run with Mubasir (20, 21b, 2x4s) and 62-run with Aamir Jamal (24, 14b, 3x4s, 1x6) running amok against WAPDA bowlers.
WAPDA’s Sharoon Siraj picked up 3-52 in his 10 overs. In turn, WAPDA slipped to 75-5 before Khalid Usman (58, 78b, 2x4s, 2x6s) and Ayaz Tasawar (50, 77b, 3x4s, 1x6) tried to salvage the innings with 79-run stand but in vain. Ahmed Safi Abdullah remained unbeaten for 31 as WAPDA were dismissed for 213 in 48.2 overs.
OGDCL beat State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in a close contest as player of the match Mohammad Sarwar Afridi’s blazing 82 not out at no.7 coupled with his unbeaten 103-run stand with Asif Afridi took them to 303-run target with seven balls to spare and three wickets left at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi.
Sarwar walked in at 177-5 and after OGDCL were reduced to 200-7, he went berserk hitting eight fours and five sixes, while Asif hit two sixes in his 22-ball 33 not out as the duo shocked SBP. For the defending champions Saqlain Nawaz, Salman Ali Agha and Mehran Mumtaz picked up two wickets each.
OGDCL’s skipper Adil Amin chipped in with 65 off 76 balls hitting five fours after he had walked in to bat at 64-3 earlier.

Yasir Khan (32, 31b, 4x4s, 1x6) and Shamyl put on a 77-run opening stand before Ghani Glass took three wickets for 40 runs as PTV slid to 117-3.

Earlier, left-arm spinner Ali Usman’s figures of 9.1-0-33-4 reined in Ghani Glass as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
For Ghani Glass, no.4 batter Hussain Talat chipped in with 59 off 81 balls comprising four fours and two sixes after walking in to bat at 41-2, while no.3 Mohsin Riaz’s audacious 30-ball 41 inclusive of five fours and two sixes was cut short as he was castled by Ali.
