Batters dominate first day of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy's sixth round

Lahore, 5 November 2025: Khushdil Shah, Salman Khan Jnr and Mohammad Farooq scored centuries as FATA ended the first day in a commanding position against Abbottabad at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in the sixth-round match of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy that began today.

At Marghzar Cricket Ground, Karachi Blues’ Saad Baig struck 109 against Peshawar – his third century in the ongoing tournament.

At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, after being put into bat, FATA were 460 for three in 90 overs. The opening pair of Mohammad Farooq and Mohammad Usman added 169 as Farooq scored 105 off 76 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes and Usman made 87 off 122 balls with 12 boundaries.

Coming in to bat at number three, Salman Khan Jnr top-scored with a 159-ball 133, hitting 20 fours and two sixes. Khushdil Shah remained unbeaten on 108 off 152 balls, striking 12 fours and two sixes.

For Abbottabad, Shahab Khan picked up two wickets.

At Marghzar Cricket Ground, Karachi Blues riding on Saad Baig’s third first-class century (all in the ongoing tournament), posted 323 for seven in 90 overs. Saad made 109 off 210 balls with three fours and two sixes. Wicketkeeper-batter Usman Khan contributed 84 off 95 balls, hitting 13 fours and one six.

Test cricketer Saud Shakeel was unbeaten on 63 off 128 balls. He hit 10 boundaries.

For Peshawar, Sajid Khan, Mohammad Amir Khan and Mohammad Imran Jnr claimed two wickets each.

At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur powered by Mohammad Sudais’ (112,150b,15x4s,2x6s), reached 203 for two in 58 overs when stumps were drawn.

For Sialkot, Hasan Ali took one wicket.

At Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, Multan’s Mohammad Ismail took four wickets as Islamabad scored 272 for eight in 75 overs when play ended. Rohail Nazir was Islamabad’s top scorer with 71 off 122 balls, including 10 fours and one six.

Afaq Afridi’s five-wicket haul helped Faisalabad bowl out Lahore Whites for 179 at Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad. For Lahore Whites, Obaid Shahid made 43.

At stumps, Faisalabad were 69 for five in 25 overs, with Nisar Ahmad claiming three wickets.
