Dhaka, 22 July 2025: Bangladesh gained an unassailable lead in the three-match T20I series after their bowlers consigned Pakistan to an eight-run defeat in the second match here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday night. The hosts successfully defended their 133-run total as the three pacers snapped 6-55.

Pakistan, who slipped to 30-6 and then 47-7 by the 12th over in the chase with top six batters unable to enter double figures, were helped by a spirited half-century from no.8 batter Faheem Ashraf.

The left hander brought up his maiden T20I fifty (51, 32b, 4x4s, 4x6s) in the penultimate over with a six before he was castled by Rishad Hossain as Pakistan required 13 off the last over. He also shared 41-run and 33-run stands with Mohammad Abbas Afridi and Ahmed Daniyal, respectively for the eighth and ninth wicket.

Debutant Ahmed Daniyal (17, 11b, 3x4s), who earlier became Pakistan’s T20I cap 123, struck the first ball of the last over for four before holing out to Shamim Hossain at midwicket.

Abbas Afridi, who had joined Faheem in the 12th over after Khushdil Shah’s departure, helped Pakistan stage a comeback from 47-7 chipping in with 19 off 13 balls hitting two fours and one six.

Pakistan’s chase began with Saim Ayub’s run out before Shoriful Islam (3-17) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2-23) jolted the batting with rapid blows. Mahedi Hasan accounted for Salman Ali Agha and Khushdil as all five bowlers struck at least once.

Earlier, Pakistan reduced Bangladesh to 28-4 after opting to bowl first before player of the match Jaker Ali (55, 48b, 1x4, 5x6s) and Mahedi Hasan (33, 25b, 2x4s, 2x6s) stitched a 49-ball 53-run stand to salvage the innings.

In the process Faheem drew the first blood, Mohammad Salman Mirza bowled a double-wicket maiden over with one dismissal being run out, while Daniyal snapped his maiden T20I wicket.

Left arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz brought an end to Jaker and Mahedi’s stand in the 14th over as Bangladesh lost remaining six wickets for 53 runs in 37 balls. For Pakistan Salman Mirza, Daniyal and Abbas Afridi picked up two wickets each.
