Lahore, 26 April 2024A fine all-round performance by Mohammad Faiq helped WAPDA to comfortably beat Ghani Glass by seven wickets in a second round action of the President’s Cup One-Day tournament at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Friday.

Faiq returned figures of 10-0-52-3, helping WAPDA dismiss Ghani Glass for 200 in 39.3 overs. He then scored an unbeaten 77 to guide WAPDA to the target in 41.3 overs, with seven wickets in hand.

Faiq’s 85-ball innings included nine fours. He shared a crucial 98-run third-wicket partnership with captain Ahmed Shehzad, who contributed a 105-ball 71 containing 11 fours. Alongside Mohammad Arif (33 not out), Faiq built an unbroken 71-run stand for the fourth wicket.

In Ghani Glass's innings earlier in the day,  Hussain Talat was the standout performer, scoring 82 from 97 balls with 11 fours. Partnering with Saad Nasim (43), Hussain added 79 runs for the fourth wicket after Ghani Glass had stumbled to 52 for three. However, after Saad's dismissal at 131, the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer significant resistance against Faiq, Asif Afridi, and Mohammad Zeeshan, and were eventually bowled out for 200.

While Faiq claimed three for 52, Asif grabbed three for 34, and Zeeshan picked up two for 50.

Meanwhile, the KRL versus PTV match at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was called off due to rain shortly after KRL began their run-chase. When play ended, KRL were 18 for one in four overs, chasing 222 for victory.
