Sharjah, 30 August 2025: Half-centuries by Saim Ayub and Hasan Nawaz and three wickets by Hasan Ali led Pakistan to a 31-run win over UAE in the second match of the tri-series at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday evening. This was Pakistan’s second successive win in the tournament, after beating Afghanistan in the first T20I on Friday evening by 39 runs.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan were jolted early when Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed in the opening over by Junaid Siddique. Fakhar Zaman (6, 7b, 1x4) also departed early, but opener Saim took charge with a scintillating 69 off 38 balls, laced with seven fours and four sixes. He was well supported by young Hasan, who entertained the crowd with a blistering 56 from 26 deliveries at a strike rate of 215. His innings included two fours and six towering sixes.

Captain Salman Ali Agha (5, 9b) and Mohammad Haris (1, 2b) fell without making an impact, before Mohammad Nawaz contributed a valuable 25 from 15 balls, hitting two fours and a six to keep the innings moving.

Faheem Ashraf (16, 10b, 1x4, 1x6) and Hasan Ali (9, 6b, 1x6) provided late acceleration, lifting Pakistan past the 200-run mark. For UAE, Saghir and Junaid claimed three wickets each, while Haider Ali took two wickets.

In turn, UAE lost Mohammad Zohaib (13, 14b, 2x4s) in the fifth over, while skipper Muhammad Waseem made a brisk 33 off 18 before being run out. The middle order faltered as Ethan Carl D’Souza (3), Alishan Sharafu (3) and Rahul Chopra (11) were dismissed cheaply, leaving the hosts reeling at 76 for five.

Asif Khan, however, produced one of the finest innings, scoring 77 from 35 deliveries with six fours and six sixes to give his side hope. He added a fighting stand with Dhruv Parashar (15, 19b, 1x6), but his dismissal to Hasan Ali in the penultimate over ended UAE’s resistance.

Hasan returned with figures of three wickets for 47 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz was economical with two for 21 from his four overs.

Pakistan will now take on Afghanistan in their third fixture of the tournament on Tuesday, 2 September at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
