Haseebullah strikes century on opening day of fourth round

Lahore, 16 September 2025: The fourth and penultimate round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy began at six venues across four cities as the fight for the two Quaid-e-Azam Trophy spots entered decisive stages.

Group A

Quetta’s Haseebullah struck a 102 off 223 balls with the help of 17 fours and one six as his team were bowled out for 187 in 72.1 overs by Faisalabad at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Haseebullah walked in to bat at 9-1 and put up a 51-run stand with Bismillah Khan (44, 63b, 8x4s) before Quetta slid to 95-4 and then 187 all out. For Faisalabad, Ahmed Safi Abdullah and Mudasir Zunair dismissed three batters each.

Lahore Blues were bowled out for 297 in 82 overs against Karachi Whites at the Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur. Mohammad Mohsin (95, 127b, 9x4s, 3x6s) and Umar Siddiq (94, 151b, 12x4s) struck half-centuries for their team and also stitched a 151-run stand for the fourth wicket after coming together at 71-3.

For Karachi Whites, Aftab Khan and Rehman Ghani picked up three wickets each. In turn, Whites were five for no loss in two overs at the close of play. 

Azad Jammu and Kashmir finished the opening day with 294-5 in 90 overs against Hyderabad at the Abbasia Sports Complex, Rahim Yar Khan. AJK were helped to a formidable score with the help of half-centuries from skipper Hasan Raza (83, 93b, 15x4s) and Awais Akram Minhas (61 not out, 123b, 7x4s).

Group B

At the SBP Sports Complex, Karachi Blues managed to score 140-4 in 30.5 overs on a rain-hit day. Blues’ skipper Saud Shakeel struck a 60-ball 54 with the help of eight fours.

Only 14.2 overs were possible at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi in which Dera Murad Jamali fetched 28 runs and lost two wickets early as Mohammad Faizan struck twice on regular intervals. Aqib Junaid (14 not out, 40b, 1x4) and Taimur Ali (8 not out, 26b) made sure no more wickets fell for DM Jamali before rain brought an end to the day.

FATA scored 132-3 in 44.2 overs against Multan at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi as the opening day was cut short due to rain. FATA’s Mohammad Usman struck a half-century (50, 96b, 8x4s) and stitched a 52-run stand for the third wicket with Mohammad Wasim Khan (39 not out, 85b, 4x4s). Multan’s Ali Usman picked up two wickets.
