Mohammad Usman's all-round performance leads Central Punjab U16 Blues to second win

Multan, 3 February 2022: Three more Pool B matches in the National U16 One-Day Tournament (45 overs) were played on Thursday at three Multan venues with Central Punjab U16 Blues, Northern U16 Blues and Southern Punjab U16 Blues winning their games against Balochistan U16 Blues, Sindh U16 Blues and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Blues, respectively.

An all-round performance by Mohammad Usman led Central Punjab U16 Blues to a 92-run win over Balochistan U16 at the Zawari Cricket Academy Ground. Batting first, Central Punjab were bowled out for 221 in the 45th over. Usman top-scored with an unbeaten 52 off 76, hitting four fours. Farhan Yousaf scored 33 and Areeb Arif contributed 30. Balochistan’s Anwar Shah picked two wickets for 39.

In return, Balochistan were dismissed for 129 in the 33rd over on the back of five-for from Usman. The right-arm leg-spinner ended-up with match figures of five for 18 in nine overs. Balochistan’s Abdul Saboor top-scored with 35.

At the Multan Cricket Stadium, half-centuries from Adeel Mushtaq and Sameer Ahmed guided Southern Punjab U16 Blues to a comprehensive nine-wicket win over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U16 Blues. Chasing 156 to win, Adeel and Sameer added 110 for the first wicket to help his side achieved the target in the 24th over. Adeel scored 60 off 49 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Sameer returned undefeated on run-a-ball 59, striking nine fours.

At the Divisional Sports Ground, Northern U16 Blues beat Sindh U16 Blues by seven wickets. Batting first, Sindh posted 161 for eight in their 45 overs. Saifullah Khan and Yahya Shah scored 45 runs each. Northern’s Mohammad Nabeel and Mohammad Bilal bagged two wickets apiece.

In return, Mohammad Arshad’s unbeaten 53 helped Northern achieved the target in the 32nd over. Hasnain Abbas scored 38, while Mohammad Bilal returned undefeated on 26. Sindh’s Abdul Moiz grabbed two wickets for 54.
