Punjab College's Obaid Shahid smashes a match-winning century on tenth day of Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup

Lahore, 31 March 2024: The tenth day of the Inter-College Ramadan T20 Cup saw 12 teams come head-to-head in six matches across four venues in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The matches in Islamabad were affected by rain and were decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

Lahore

At the LCCA Ground Lahore, Punjab College defeated Government Dyal Singh Graduate College by a massive 254 runs. Punjab College’s Obaid Shahid high-scored with an unbeaten 129 off 49 with 20 boundaries and four sixes. He was followed Haider Shahjahan’s 84 off 34 (12x4s, 4x6s) and Mohammad Aswad’s unbeaten half century of 51 off 30 (5x4s, 1x6). Dyal Singh College in turn folded for a measly 37 runs, batting only for 8.3 overs. Punjab College’s Ahmed Arif, Adil Munir and Nazim Ali all returned with three wickets each.

At the same venue, Government College University (GCU) won their match against Government Islamia College by 10 wickets. GCU’s Soban Mustafa and Mohammad Ayaz produced an unbeaten partnership of 59 runs, successfully chasing Islamia College’s target in only 8.2 overs. Earlier, bowlers Mohammad Wasim Haider and Mohammad Anas Raza both managed to register four-wicket hauls against Islamia College to restrict them at just 58 in 18.5 overs.

Karachi

Beaconhouse School System (BSS) beat Government Delhi College by an impressive 87 runs at Karachi’s Eid Gah Stadium. Yafai Ali Khan high-scored with an unbeaten 55 off 41 (2x4s, 3x6s) while Haidh Sohail managed to score 26 off 33 deliveries as BSS posted 168-7 on the board. In turn, Government Delhi were dismissed for 81 runs in 14.2 overs courtesy Asjadullah, who bagged a four-fer and Muavia Mustafa and Yafai Ali Khan who both returned with two wickets apiece.

Government National College won in their match against The City School by 14 runs at the IBA Cricket Ground in Karachi. Government National College’s Abdul Rafay high-scored with 62 off 45 (7x4s, 2x6s) while Mohammad Sufyan made 29 off 18 (3x4s, 3x6s) as the side posted 141 in the first innings. Government National College then succeeded in restricting The City School to 127 runs with bowlers Wahab Mirza and Rayyan Afridi both claiming three-wicket hauls.

Islamabad

IMPCC H-8/4 overcame Bahria College Zafar Camp E by 24 runs in the rain-impacted match at Miusam Cricket Ground. The match, reduced to 15 overs a side, saw IMPCC’s bowlers Talha, Abdul Jabbar and Husnain Ali bundle over Bahria College for 54 runs in 13.4 overs. IMPCC batters Fahad Saleem and Husnain Ali had earlier high-scored with 21 runs each, as the team scored 78-8 in the first innings.

At the same venue, IMCB G-10/4 won by 30 runs against IMCB F-10/3. The match was reduced to 12 overs a side. IMCB G-10/4’s Safwanullah high-score with 28 off 15 (4x4s). He was followed by Mohammad Niaz who made 26 off 19 with the help of two boundaries to help the team get to a healthy total of 104-6 in 12 overs. Niaz’s all-rounding abilities were on display throughout the match as he claimed three wickets at the expense of 14 runs in the second innings as IMCB F-10/3 ending their run at 74-7.
