Lahore, 1 May 2025: Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators were both awarded one point each as the evening fixture of the double-header was called off due to excessive rain after the two-time champions had faced 11.3 overs here at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on Thursday.
Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Qalandars and Saud Shakeel’s Gladiators are now stationed on second and third place, respectively on the points table with nine points each. Lahore will face Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi, while Quetta are set to play Multan Sultans and Islamabad United twice before the end of league stage.
Earlier, Quetta won the toss and opted to field first. Khurram Shahzad castled Fakhar Zaman on the third ball of the opening over before Abdullah Shafique (53 not out, 32b, 3x4s, 3x6s) and Mohammad Naeem (50, 30b, 3x4s, 4x6s) put on a brilliant 102-run partnership.
While Naeem struck his maiden HBL PSL half-century, it was Abdullah’s eighth across four seasons. Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed struck in his 10th and 12th over to remove Abdullah and Daryl Mitchell, respectively. Qalandars were 111-3 in 11.3 overs, when the rain arrived.
