Kent, 3 August 2025: Half-centuries by Omair Bin Yousuf and Rohail Nazir led Pakistan Shaheens to 369 for eight on the first day of the three-day match against South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers at the Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Canterbury on Sunday. This is Shaheens’ second three-day match on the tour, after their opening fixture against the Professional County Club Select XI ended in a draw.
Rohail returned unbeaten on 98 off 114 balls, including 14 fours. He stitched a 91-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Omair, who scored a 90-ball 68, hitting five fours and a six. The right-handed wicketkeeper-batter then shared an unbroken 72-run stand for the ninth wicket with Maaz Sadaqat (25 not out, 42 balls, 2x4s).
Earlier, after opting to bat first, the opening pair of Shamyl Hussain and Azan Awais added 39 runs for the first wicket. Shamyl was the first to depart, scoring a 30-ball 33 with six boundaries.
Azan, who has been in fine form throughout the tour, was dismissed for just four off 19 balls. With both openers back in the pavilion at 39 runs on the board, captain Saud Shakeel and Ali Zaryab steadied the innings, adding 67 runs for the third wicket. Saud made 35 off 63 balls, hitting three fours.
Ali Zaryab was another notable contributor with the bat, scoring 44 off 103 balls, including three boundaries.
For South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers, Eesa Nadeem, Hishaam Khan and Sana Khan picked up two wickets apiece.
